Zendaya's POV
After the whole ordeal, I watched her leave, frightened, and scared. My gaze still lingered on the space where Clara had stood, and even now, with the silence stretching, my heart hammered against my ribs, refusing to find its rhythm.
"Miranda, please take Zendaya back to the office," Damien's voice cut through my daze, devoid of explanation and unyielding. My eyes snapped to him. He was already turning, his shadow detaching itself from the dim light, heading towards the hallway. No explanation. No reason. My instincts, however, screamed at me. Something was profoundly wrong.
I wouldn't be dismissed so easily. As I watched him disappear down the hallway, a flicker of strong purpose in his stride, I followed Miranda quietly, back to his office, When I returned, it was quiet, too still.
