Throughout the week, neither Ruediger nor Lariette let the topic of Vincent, Chairman Alvord and the Alvord Corporation bother them.
They spent the rest of the week as if that man's appearance and his audacious request were just figments of one's imagination.
Out of sight, out of mind.
Aside from being preoccupied with teaching, Lariette was busier as the school geared up for the end-of-term examinations and final evaluations. She returned home mostly from five to six now, exhausted and longing for the bed.
As for Ruediger, he had been discussing additional measures to be taken against the Alvord Corporation if they retaliated. He learned from Nathaniel how frantically they tried reaching out to him.
"I think I've lost count of how many times they wanted to meet me. Well, Fabian said Vincent approached him during a banquet last week, but he promised nothing."
