Chapter 1 - Ken!

Chapter 1: Ken!

"...Rooting for you."

...

A soft, ancient voice reverberated in a white realm stretching endlessly. Not a single being could be seen in here... aside from a dark humanoid figure, a lone spirit in the very center of the realm.

"A voice?" The humanoid woke up from his deep slumber in a flash before he started looking around.

"Weird..." It was impossible for him to be hearing things, but it was also impossible for this place to hold anything other than him.

"Rooting for me?" He thought to himself. Who was it that was rooting for him? And for what reason?

This was what he heard and though he knew nothing about its origins or reasons, he kept it in his mind.

Such a weird occurence, it was hard to forget for him who had been living in solitude for who knows how long.

The figure closed its eyes for a moment, but this time, he was not going back to sleep, no, he was going to check out how his people have been doing.

"I've been asleep for 50 thousand years." The first thing he checked was how long he had been slumbering.

For him, this was a regular sleep sessions, because he had been living since the beginning of times, not able to leave this place, his only source of entertainment was sleeping, and watching his people as well as guiding them sometimes.

"Mother has been developed further and her energy as well as her authority has evolved higher, it seems the humans were able to reach higher realms and explore more of the unconquered portals." The being looked at the planet's surface and its energy.

He was the child of the star, and his name, was Ken. This was pretty much all he knew about himself.

The star hosted humans as its main species and some animals and beasts who could absorb the star's spiritual energy to grow were one of the human's source of study and nourishment.

But the main enemies of the humans as far as Ken could remember were the portals which were located in the center of every continent.

420 to be exact, but their number was far more than that, there were many smaller portals in every continent but the monsters there couldn't pose a threat to the humans any longer.

And even the large 420 portals were cleared out multiple times in large intervals, but their problem was that, each time they were cleared, they returned once again, larger and stronger.

Thankfully for the humans, the strong monsters inside of the portals never attacked, but the humans' nature was naturally greedy, and their star's resources were not enough for them, thus, the portals weren't spared, explored multiple times a year to strip them of their resources.

In this case, the leachers weren't known, was it the humans? Or the portals that sucked the spiritual energy of the world?

In anycase, this was a natural cycle that was beneficial to all, after all, without the resources brought Ken's mother, the star wouldn't have advanced this fast, or at all.

Switching his attention, Ken started searching for some key humans he had helped out before he hibernated, and not a single one of them had died yet.

"Oh, that lad has grown to become a formidable leader, his empire has stretched to conquer 90 of the 420 continents." The figure smiled, from its face that was made out of white holes a slit representing its mouth turned upwards.

"To think that little shy girl would become the leader of such a large organization?"

"Ah, that couple really knows no limits, the lad's family line which could have ended with him ended up becoming one of the strongest clans in history."

One after another, more than 150 humans that he had helped went on to become great figures shaping the star they lived on today, not disappointing him.

since ancient times, this cycle of creating powerhouses was carried out by him from the second he woke up to the minute he slept.

If his mother was the ground they worked, then he was the strategist who made sure it developed further, or so he liked to think of himself.

His life goal was to become helpful to his mother and he had been doing so since he was born; alas, he had never heard his mother's praise, nor was he able to get out and explore the world.

Still, he was happy to see that the humans had reached this far. Some of the ancestors who were older than him were even still alive, which went to show how long the humans of this world could live.

In fact, this was a general fact all around, even inside of the portals and possibly on the other stars. No natural death existed; if one wasn't killed by someone else, or by some poison and possibly diseases, they could go on to live forever.

The concept of lifespan seemed almost non-existent.

"Good... As long as Mother continues to flourish, I'm more than happy to continue doing what I've been doing since the start." He thought to himself.

Each and every single human who had been and was still living was like a child or brother to him; their interest was his own and their demise caused him anguish, and their development as well as their knowledge was what shaped him into becoming the knowledgeable fellow he was today.

Still, he felt somewhat incomplete and immature, a trait that came from his lack of guidance and constant self-teaching.

As Ken was thinking about his life and observing the humans planning to start another round of choosing key pawns to help, his senses caught up on something else inside the realm.

Something he never thought would possibly happen.

*Fwshhhh*

A Portal as large as his senses could reach, opened up on top of him.

Just as Ken's mind started running with countless possibilities, a bone-curdling scream reverberated throughout the entire star, causing each and ever single living being who walked on top of the earth to shudder with fear, their very skin tightening on them.
