Chapter 22 - 22 - Mating Ball

Taking Sage home, he removed her dirty clothes and put her on the bed, grabbing a cool, wet cloth to clean her as she muttered incoherently. He could feel it now, the ring taking his strength in order to keep her alive.

"This certainly puts a damper on things," he said, scrubbing off the last blood. And to think he was planning on performing the very risky mating ball tonight.

The most intimate and dangerous thing a vampire couple can do. Joining two bodies into one like no other, but risk falling into a ravenous lust from which there is no escape, should either one not love the other more than themselves. In such a scenario, the couple would find themselves trapped until their blood runs dry and desiccates without help. Turning an otherwise beautiful act into a shame forever marked, haunting them throughout the rest of their lives.

It's also the one time a vampire can be marked as the body is tricked into thinking that the two are one, and doesn't heal completely afterward, leaving enough of a mark that other vampires can see, warning them you're already taken.

Although it might actually help cleanse her of the venom, filtering blood through one another, and he had promised no sleeping tonight.

Taking a quick shower, he reentered the bedroom, finding her awake, staring at him.

"Finn, you can't be here. You're not real. This isn't real. I'm sorry I couldn't save you. I'm sorry I was too weak," she grieved.

"Everything's going to be fine," he said, combing hair out of her face. He hated seeing her like this.

Moving his hand lower, he prepared her, turning her groans into moans.

When he felt she was ready, he moved in between her legs and slipped inside.

"Oh, Finn, it's just like I remembered, if only you were still here," she whispered.

"I'm here Sage. Now I need you to bite me. Bite me Sage," ordered Finn, offering up his neck.

"Yes, like I always dreamed of," Sage cooed, piercing his neck as he pierced hers.

Now connected, their blood became one big system, circling between them, and their crotches pulsed, sending waves of orgasmic pleasure through them.

Hunger drove them for more, more blood, more lust, a dangerous cycle, but one they were more than capable of handling as they took that final step together.

Hours later, the venom was finally worked out, and Sage realized what was happening. Her grip tightened around him as she happily experienced the pinnacle of bliss.

It was morning before either was ready to let the other go, and let go they did, proving once and for all they were soulmates.

Finn smiled, "Hello my love."

Sage smiled, "Hello my love."

With a final all-encompassing kiss, they disconnected.

.

"What's on the agenda for today?" asked Sage, finishing her shower.

"Today, I was thinking about finally meeting Troy," said Finn, leaning back against the bathroom counter, arms crossed, enjoying the show.

Sage snorted, stepping out and taking the offered towel, "Oh yeah? You picked a hell of a time. Why now?"

"Klaus is likely to be very angry and on the move, since I burned his house down, it's time I covered all my bases," he answered, his eyes feasting on her form.

"Speaking of, you're not becoming an arsonist, are you?" asked Sage, wrapping her hair up and heading to the mirror.

"Becoming?" Finn grinned playfully, his hand gliding down her exposed back, grabbing a nice handful of cheek, "No, I just decided on a scorched earth policy, as Father did before me, reminding the bastard how weak he truly is."

He should have joined Father all those years ago; to think he initially went with his siblings to watch over and protect them if necessary. Little did he know what they would turn into. Embracing the monsters they've become. To allow themselves to be led astray by that bastard.

Of course, he was aware that Father wasn't entirely blameless; in fact, much of the blame can be placed squarely on his shoulders. However, the bastard had a thousand years to be better, and from what he's seen and heard, he's only gotten worse.

It was ultimately the bastard's fault for being unable to rise above after a thousand fucking years, talk about pathetic. And as for the others, they had no excuse for falling in line and participating in his evil bullshit.

"Alright, I'll give Troy a call and set up a meeting," said Sage, giving him a loving kiss before getting dressed and pulling out her phone.

"Sage," answered Troy.

"It's time, bring the group," said Sage.

"Understood," said Troy, hanging up.

"The group?" asked Finn.

"Yeah, isn't this what you wanted?" asked Sage, looking for her shoes.

"Well, yeah, but I thought I'd just meet Troy first. Whatever, it's fine," said Finn, showing her where they fell.

"Oh, and I don't know if I have to say this, but please don't eat them," said Sage, putting them on.

Finn grinned, "Wasn't planning on it anytime soon, however, that's something else we'll discuss. Tell me how much you trust these people."

"With my life," said Sage without hesitation, standing up.

"Hmm, then I hope they're worth it. How do you think they would react to our new diet? And by that I mean do you think any of them would be against it should I impose it upon them?" he asked thoughtfully, grabbing his keys.

Her brows scrunched together. "I don't know, still, I would appreciate it if you didn't kill them."

"You do realize what I'm trying to achieve, right? What the long-term goal is?" asked Finn, entering the garage.

Sage frowned, getting into the passenger's seat, "I do, but I was hoping you would make some exceptions, or at least give them a chance to prove themselves worthy of your vision."

"Sure, I can give them a chance for your sake when the time comes," said Finn, feeling generous, starting the car.

"Thanks, that's all I ask," said Sage, giving him a peck on the cheek.
