Chapter 26 - 26. This Thing Takes Seconds

Pokémon level list:

First place: LV25, Charmeleon, owner: Morning Sun

Second place: LV24, Frogadier, owner: Morning Sun

Third place: LV18, Pidgeotto, owner: Name hidden

Fourth place: LV17, Possum, owner: Name hidden

Fifth place: LV16, Nidorino, owner: Name hidden

··

Ninth place: LV14, Beedrill, owner: Name hidden

Tenth place: LV7, Staryu, owner: Dream Girl

"Hahaha, the top nine in the level list are all me. I'm dying of laughter."

Eddie couldn't help but laugh as he looked at the level list. Believe him, he's a professional. Normal people wouldn't laugh unless they couldn't hold it in.

And now, Eddie couldn't help it.

Because, aside from his two main Pokémon on the level list, the rest of the hidden names were all his own—Pokémon caught from Viridian Forest. He hadn't paid attention at the time, just keeping an eye on it and selecting the option to hide the names.

He'd forgotten that other players leveled up very slowly, while the Pokémon he caught were already at higher levels. That's how this situation came about.

Eddie laughed for several minutes before continuing to open the other rankings.

Pokémon Potential Ranking:

First place: Charmeleon, champion potential, owner: Morning Sun

Second place: Frogadier, champion potential, owner: Morning Sun

Third place: Plusle, Quasi-Elite potential, owner: name hidden

Fourth place: Pidgey, Quasi-Elite potential, owner: name hidden

Fifth place: Staryu, Peak potential, owner: Dream Girl

····

"Well, except for the Pidgey I caught, there are no changes. My other Pokémon are ranked a bit lower, and there's another row of hidden names."

Eddie understood that the potential list probably wouldn't change much. Even though, hundreds of millions of players had entered the game, Starter Pokémon with Peak potential are rare.

Then, he opened the final Trainer ranking list.

Trainer Ranking List:

First place: Morning Sun, intermediate Trainer

Second place: none

"Sure enough, I'm the only one on the list. I don't know how long it'll take for other players to get on it."

Eddie looked at the ranking list, knowing that he was the only one on it. After all, to get on this list, you had to be at least an intermediate Trainer, and right now, he was the only one who met the requirements. He opened this list just for fun.

"Okay, now that I've finished reading the lists, let's check the last one—Exp. Share."

"That's a leveling artifact."

"I heard in my previous life that there are only 10 of them in the entire game world!"

Eddie didn't get this item in his previous life, but that didn't stop him from knowing its effect.

After all, the lucky ones who had it showed it off everywhere. Although only 3 players got one, the other 7 were owned by the original residents of the game. "I remember a guy who posted on the forum in my previous life said that the effect of this Exp. Share is: the Pokémon you carry can share the experience points. This means that the Pokémon you fight gets 50% of the experience, and the Pokémon you carry gets 50% of the experience."

Eddie recalled his previous memories and found that, whether in his past life or before he crossed over, the effect of this Exp. Share was indeed the same as described and used.

But no matter what, that was what other people said, and it needed to be confirmed.

"I can't take everything as my true knowledge now. After all, the game version is different. The conditions for triggering hidden missions may be the same, but the difficulty and props might vary, like the skill machine I can use infinitely."

Eddie narrowed his eyes, thinking that Poké Balls and recovery props hadn't changed much, and the rare candy, silver crown, and Gold Bottle Cap were still the same.

But he could use the skill machine infinitely, which also indicated that many props might change, though he had to confirm it himself.

"I was in a hurry to leave Viridian Forest earlier, so I didn't check this Exp. Share. It was given by Mew, and I think the effect of this thing might have changed. Now, let's see what this leveling artifact has become."

Eddie clicked on the introduction and effect page for the Exp. Share on the panel.

[Exp. Share]: A device that allows all Pokémon in the group to gain experience points after turning on the switch.

Detailed description: The battling Pokémon gains 100% experience, and all Pokémon in your party gain 80% experience.

"F**k, what the hell is this!? This isn't a leveling artifact; it's a military training artifact!"

Eddie stared at the detailed description, and because it was so unbelievable, he wiped his eyes, fearing he was seeing things wrong.

After wiping them three or four times, he still saw the same description and burst into laughter.

"Hahahaha, my team's leveling speed is going to soar! The Pokémon level list is really going to be mine!"

Eddie now had two main Pokémon, and more would be caught in the future. It would definitely take a lot of time to level them up one by one, but with this Exp. Share, Eddie didn't need to worry about this problem at all.

"Not only do I not have to worry, but I might even have to worry about training too fast."

"Maybe I should get a second team of Pokémon or something, so I don't have to worry about not being able to train enough."

Eddie was now thinking about whether to catch a few more strong Pokémon to form a second team. With this Exp. Share, he didn't have to worry about the time it would take to train them.

In this Pokémon world, there was no limit to how many Pokémon you could carry.

You could carry as many Poké Balls as you could fit in your backpack.

But that wasn't actually very useful.

The original Trainers and players of the game struggled to train enough Pokémon.

Even if you had 6 main Pokémon, the difference in strength between the strongest and weakest was still noticeable.

If you trained more than 6 Pokémon, why not train your strongest ones even more during your spare time? For example, when a Trainer has trained all 12 Pokémon to the peak level, another Trainer who has only trained 6 Pokémon could have already brought theirs to Quasi-Elite level.

The latter could completely beat the former, even if the former had twice as many Pokémon.

"Before, I captured Pokémon just to complete the Pokédex. Now, I can capture Pokémon with good potential and strength, and I don't have to worry about the time it takes to level them up."

Eddie used to capture Pokémon simply to complete the Pokédex because there were rewards for doing so. He'd capture any new ones he encountered, and the extra ones were used for missions and then sent back to Professor Oak's Laboratory via the Pokémon Center's teleporter.

"Well, that's settled. In the future, when I meet a suitable Pokémon, I'll carry it with me to level it up."

"However, it must be of at least quasi-elite potential so that it's easier to train."

"After all, Silver Crown isn't something you can get easily, and I don't have many."

Eddie made up his mind that whenever he found a suitable Pokémon with good potential, he would capture it and carry it with him.

In this version, with all the experience available and the Exp. Share, he could definitely form a second team of Pokémon.
