The cold menace in Arachnea's voice made his chest heavy but more than that, his ear was tense as he listened to the maid's next words.
"When my mother died, I felt two things," she continued, her finger hovering dangerously close to his ear. "A splitting headache and the intense need to find a new person to serve. Do you understand what it means, Mister Noah?"
Noah opened his eyes, trying to not squirm too much under her finger's stimulation. Maybe it was just his impression, but Arachnea seemed quite inclined to ask him rather troublesome questions with troublesome answer. Then again, Arachnea whole character seemed like a landmine to him.
"Y-Yes," he replied in a low voice.
It was obvious. If Arachnea started looking for someone to serve—in short a master—as soon as the only person she ever tried to please was dead, there weren't that many possible explanations for that.
The corners of the maid's mouth curved upward into a chilling smile seemingly satisfied with his answer.
