I stepped out of the closet, the silk hem of my dress brushing over the marble floor like a quiet thunder. My jaw was locked. My spine, was straight as a blade. The air shifted around me as if the room knew not to breathe too loudly in my presence.
There Nyx stood I am pretty sure she is about to piss me off so bad.
Painted in silk and sin, lips pressed tight as though it took all her restraint not to scream.
She looked me over with narrowed eyes, a quiet tremor of frustration crossing her expression before she caught herself.
She was losing… and she knew it.
Her voice snapped through the silence, acidic and shaking.
"I promise you, Emma… once this coronation is over, once I become Ian's bride… I will teach you a lesson you will regret for the rest of your life."
I tilted my head, mock pity blooming on my lips as I gasped dramatically.
"Oh no… I am terrified. Please don't hurt me."
My tone was thick with teasing venom, and I couldn't help but scoff softly.
