Chapter 60 - Round 3 - Ending 1

[FIGHT]

[MERCY]

He stared.

Then, slowly, Doom Slayer lowered the Doomblade.

He chose Mercy.

Not out of compassion.

But because this enemy—this broken being—was no longer a threat. He was defeated. Not in death. Not in combat.

But in soul.

To kill him now wouldn't be justice. It would be cruelty. And Doom Slayer didn't kill for cruelty. He ripped and tore until the monsters were gone—but this… this wasn't a monster anymore.

He turned away.

And as he did, Chara's voice whispered again, distant and grateful:

"Thank you..."

Doom Slayer turned away from the broken figure of UltSans.

His footsteps were heavy, but steady. His armor, still cracked and glowing faintly with rainbow and red energy, hissed softly as systems cooled. His blade dimmed. His body slowed.

And behind him, something stirred.

A faint red outline began to flicker into view—hovering over UltSans' slumped body like a dying ember. Doom Slayer paused, not turning at first. The aura pulsed—weak, but still present.

Then UltSans collapsed, fully unconscious, his body giving out beneath the weight of his own failure.

Doom Slayer turned, watching carefully.

From the shadows, Chara emerged—silent, almost weightless, as she floated toward UltSans. Her form shimmered, more ethereal than before. She moved over him, and then—without a word—entered him, merging into his body like mist pouring into stone.

UltSans stirred. His body rose unnaturally, his limbs guided by something beyond muscle. His head lifted. The glow in his pupils returned, dim and controlled now—no longer rage, but something steadier.

Chara looked at Doom Slayer through his eyes.

They stared at each other—no hostility, no tension. Just two forces that understood each other now.

Doom Slayer gave a short nod.

Chara nodded back, then turned away with the body she now guided.

And so did he.

Doom Slayer faced forward again, stepping toward the horizon—toward the unknown. His path wasn't over. His mission never truly ended.

Above him, the True Human Souls emerged—drifting silently in the air, following him like celestial sentries.

True Kindness spoke first:

"You spared a demon… but even after all, maybe you can change more than you think—for the better."

True Justice followed:"You brought justice where it was needed. Not just for you—but for all those who suffered at his hands. You passed judgment. He paid the price."

True Bravery:

"You fought like a real warrior. You're not just brave—you are fearless. A force with no hesitation."

True Perseverance:

"You persevered through an impossible encounter… and still, you walked out victorious."

There was a pause.

Then True Justice spoke again:

"Everyone else… they vanished. Their souls shattered. Without bodies, they couldn't hold on—and they died. But we… we were changed. Altered by experiments. We can't die like the others. And now, we choose to follow you."

True Bravery added:

"A true warrior like you won't fall to anything—with us at your side. Lead the way, Slayer."

A brief silence passed, then True Kindness floated closer, her voice quieter:

"But… I need to ask… Why are you called 'Slayer'? It upsets me. It makes me wonder—and worry."

True Bravery answered:

"I don't know. But from what we saw… you heard it too. It was the name they gave him—those demons in his memories. His enemies. They gave it to him."

No one spoke after that.

They didn't need to.

A red portal opened ahead—flickering softly, humming with dormant energy.

Doom Slayer stepped into it.

He had no guns. No arsenal. No heavy payload of death and precision.

But he had something else now.

The True Human Souls.

They followed close behind, burning bright.

And so, he continued. The mission was never over. The war never ended.

He didn't need the title.

But the demons had given it to him.

And the name remained.

Slayer[1].

Ending: Mercy Chosen

Doom Slayer walks away. A warrior unchanged, but no longer burning.

The rage remains—but now, it is focused.

Not on killing.

On saving.

Even from the edge of hell itself.

[1] Demons sing calling him Doom Slayer, but all demons who communicate refer to him as Slayer.
