Chapter 73 - Chapter 73: So He Is Lin Fan

Seeing the situation unfold, Pande couldn't help but frown.

This whole mess was clearly the armored landowner's fault, so how did it turn into a situation where the village chief of Fishing Village had to come and punish Lin Fan?

"You were the one who tried to set up this young man. He only retaliated in kind, so what right do you have to call the village chief to stand up for you?" Pande said with disdain.

Pande actually had a pretty good impression of Lin Fan.

After all, Lin Fan had bought multiple slaves from him and was always generous with his money.

Besides, Lin Fan hadn't done anything wrong in this matter.

Whether it was the bidding war or breaking the armored landowner's arm, it was all a response to the trouble the landowner had started. Lin Fan was merely defending himself.

"So what? This is Fishing Village's territory. He's just an outsider," the armored landowner gritted his teeth, his forehead covered in sweat from the pain.

Hearing this, Pande grew even more displeased.

"And what if it's your territory? Are you really going to gang up on someone just because you have more people?"

Pande wasn't from Fishing Village either, so if the village really decided to go after Lin Fan, there wasn't much he could do.

Thinking about it gave him a headache.

He turned to Lin Fan.

"Young man, maybe you should leave. I've heard that the village chief of Fishing Village is rather unreasonable. He's extremely harsh toward outsiders, so it's better if you don't stay here," Pande advised, somewhat helplessly.

But Lin Fan simply shook his head indifferently.

"It's fine. I already promised him I wouldn't run. I'm actually curious to see how the village chief plans to deal with me."

He stood his ground, looking calm and confident.

The armored landowner was thrilled to see this.

Lin Fan staying put was the best possible outcome—once the village chief arrived, Lin Fan would surely suffer!

He glared at Lin Fan, gritting his teeth in frustration.

This brat had humiliated him again and again. He wanted to see just how capable Lin Fan really was!

Seeing the tension rising, the surrounding villagers started to worry.

"Young man, you should leave now. Our village chief really is overly protective of his own."

"Yeah, don't let your pride get the better of you."

"We all know this wasn't your fault. If you leave, we won't stop you."

The villagers spoke up in Lin Fan's defense, much to the armored landowner's frustration.

"Are you people even from Fishing Village?! Why are you siding with an outsider?!" he bellowed at them, fuming.

A few of them rolled their eyes at him, unwilling to waste their breath.

"You only got what you deserved for scheming against this young man. Otherwise, you wouldn't be in this mess."

"Exactly. You were the one who drew your sword and attacked him first. Otherwise, that slave wouldn't have broken your arm."

"You were clearly in the wrong. Why are you blaming him?"

More and more people started to voice their support for Lin Fan, but the armored landowner ignored them, simply letting out a cold snort.

"Why?"

"In Fishing Village, do I even need a reason? I'm a landowner here! He has no right to lay a hand on me on my own turf!" the armored landowner snapped aggressively.

His words left the villagers speechless, but they still wanted to persuade Lin Fan to leave.

However, before they could say anything else, they saw two landowners returning with the village chief.

The village chief of Fishing Village walked toward them, leaning on a cane, followed by a group of armored soldiers.

Everyone in the nearby towns knew that the village chief of Fishing Village was notorious for protecting his own, regardless of the circumstances.

And just as expected—before even asking what had happened, he had already brought a whole squad of soldiers.

Seeing the dozens of soldiers approaching, the armored landowner sneered and turned to Lin Fan.

"You were the one who chose not to run, so don't blame me for setting you up again!" The armored landowner's eyes gleamed with malice.

Lin Fan simply shrugged indifferently.

"Okay."

His calm response left the surrounding villagers sighing in pity.

It seemed Lin Fan was bound to suffer today.

Even though he had purchased five slaves, including the physically imposing Lordson, how could they possibly stand a chance against more than twenty armed soldiers?

"Sigh, this is so unfair."

"I thought this young man was quite interesting. How did things turn out like this?"

"Fishing Village is nothing but a bunch of bullies."

As the villagers murmured among themselves, the Fishing Village chief drew closer.

Impatient, the armored landowner struggled to his feet and stumbled toward the village chief.

"Chief! You're finally here!"

Seeing the landowner's disheveled state, the village chief frowned.

"Who did this to you?!"

"Who dares to harm someone from my Fishing Village on my land?!" he barked, his voice sharp and full of authority despite his age.

The armored landowner wore a pitiful expression.

"It was a wealthy outsider."

"I don't care how rich he is! This is Fishing Village! How dare he injure one of my people?!" the chief roared in fury.

"Hurry! Take me to him!"

Hearing this, the armored landowner immediately gained confidence.

He eagerly stepped aside, pointing toward Lin Fan, who remained seated on the oakwood sofa.

"It's him!"

Following the direction of the landowner's finger, the village chief turned to look—only to see Lin Fan sitting there leisurely, smiling at him.

And at that moment, the village chief froze.

The armored landowner, still unaware of the gravity of the situation, continued his tirade, clutching his broken arm.

"It was him!"

"He tricked me into bidding 160,000 gold coins on a slave from Pande! And then he broke my arm! He has no respect for Fishing Village at all!"

"Chief, you must teach him a lesson!" the landowner seethed with rage.

But instead of responding, the village chief took one look at the landowner—and then, without warning, kicked him to the ground.

The force of the kick sent the armored landowner sprawling, leaving him utterly bewildered.

"Ch-Chief? Why did you kick me?! He's the one who bullied me!"

The village chief glared at him furiously.

"Insolence! Who gave you permission to speak like that?!" he bellowed.

The armored landowner was even more confused now.

What was going on?

Just moments ago, the village chief had seemed ready to avenge him, but now he was scolding him instead?

Struggling to breathe from his anger, the village chief pointed his cane at Lin Fan.

"Do you even know who he is?!"

Who is he?

The armored landowner was stunned.

The onlookers were also confused.

Who exactly was this young man?

Could he really be someone important?

Everyone stared at Lin Fan in curiosity.

The village chief looked at the landowner with deep disappointment.

"He is Lin Fan!"

"The very same warrior who cleared all the bosses in Nine-Story Monster Tower yesterday in an instant!"

"And the only master of Lady Maid—Lin Fan!"

Silence.

Everyone stood in shock, eyes wide as they turned to look at Lin Fan, still sitting casually on the oakwood sofa.

So he really was Lin Fan?!
