Chapter 142 - Chapter 142: Ash and Absol

I am Absol, a Dark-type Pokémon. However, more often than not, humans referred to us as the "Disaster Pokémon." This is because the appearance of our kind is often accompanied by calamities. Yet, what they fail to realize is that we are here to warn them of impending disasters.

But that doesn't matter; as long as we can reduce casualties, that's enough. We're used to being misunderstood. Initially, I thought that the title "Disaster Pokémon" would follow me for life. But I was wrong because I met that person—Ash...

A few years before Ash started his journey, he went to the Hoenn region to collect herbs and expand his business, and it was there that he unexpectedly encountered Absol.

"Oh! Pikachu! Chansey! Meowth! Poochyena! Zigzagoon! Look! It's Absol! I'm so lucky!"

"Lucky?" (Why is Ash's dad so happy?)

"Zigzagoon." (I don't know; it seems like it's because he saw that Absol over there?)

"Pikachu!" (Absol must be a really strong Pokémon, right?)

"Woo!" (What's that? Is the master going to pet my belly?)

"I told you, don't you know that the appearance of Absol usually means trouble? We better be careful, Meowth."

When Absol heard Meowth speak, it was taken aback. While Absol was momentarily stunned, Ash walked over to it.

"Excuse me, does your appearance here signify that some disaster is about to happen? If so, can you let us know? My name is Ash, and these are my companions: Pikachu, Meowth, Chansey, Poochyena, and Zigzagoon. And my Meowth can translate what you say."

"Woo?" (Aren't you afraid of me?)

Absol found it strange that Ash wasn't running away. Usually, when people see Absol—whether they are adults or children—they flee. Absol was already used to this response.

"Ah haha, Meowth. Just say whatever you need to say. I can help translate. My boss is different from those foolish incompetent people."

Seeing Meowth perched on Ash's shoulder, Absol nodded. Having a Pokémon that could translate indeed made things easier. Therefore, Absol communicated its premonition about an impending landslide to Ash. Upon hearing this, Ash, holding Chansey, gazed toward the distant mountain and sighed, "So, we can't compare to Pokémon in predicting these things at all…"

The employees of the Continental Hotel, who had been standing in the background, rushed over to Ash to listen to their boss's instructions.

"Meowth has already translated what Absol said. Do you know what to do?"

"Yes! We will contact the geological experts right away…"

"Fools! First, notify the nearby people and evacuate the Pokémon! THEN consult the geological experts! Move now!"

"Yes!"

Watching his subordinates sprint to evacuate people and Pokémon, Ash shook his head speechlessly. Just then, a silver-haired woman walked by, glanced at Absol, and said to Ash, "Boss, why do you trust a Pokémon so much, especially one that has such a bad reputation?"

This woman didn't understand why Absol was so disliked, but since she was one of Ash's subordinates, Absol ignored her. Meanwhile, Ash was petting Poochyena's belly as he explained to the woman, "J, don't underestimate any Pokémon. They have incredible abilities, and Absol are misunderstood heroes. Their appearance may signify disaster, but that's just a foolish excuse to blame them. I have seen records that say whenever Absol appear, it's more of a warning to humans about impending danger. Isn't that right, Absol?"

Absol was a bit surprised and looked at Ash, eventually nodding. It felt an increased curiosity toward Ash because Absol could tell that Ash genuinely believed this. Although Absol didn't particularly like J, Ash was different. He understood Absol, which gave the lonely Absol a sense of finding companionship.

On the other hand, the woman Ash called J frowned at Absol. Like Absol, she also didn't quite like it; it was more of an instinctive feeling.

Absol could sense her thoughts—although it was a Dark-type Pokémon, it had a sense of justice. This was exactly J's perspective; she surely thought like this, and Absol could tell.

"Anyway, I don't like Absol. Its so-called sense of justice is annoying."

To J's straightforward comment, Absol merely glanced at her and chose to ignore her. After all, Absol didn't like her either.

"I don't care whether you like Absol or not. I like it just fine. And let's not forget that I paid to clear your record and hire you, not to hear about who you like. Right now, I just want to know what happened to those guys who tried to kidnap me?"

"It's been taken care of. They will never appear again. Your Arbok's children, Ekans, played a huge role. If possible, I would like to have a couple of them with me."

Thinking of the terrifying poison that Ash's Arbok's children had used, she was very interested.

"As long as it's resolved, that's good. Your bonus will be sent to you shortly. As for the Ekans, let's see if you can attract them."

"Got it. I will prove myself to Ekans."

Saying this, she turned around and left, determined to get her hands on Ash's Arbok's children. Absol could sense her intentions and noticed her strong desire for Ash's Ekans's poison, which she found very appealing. Once she saw the effects, she was resolute in her belief: she had to capture Ash's Arbok's children. Absol couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed by this woman.
