Leonard hadn't moved from the window for hours. He stood in silence, one hand in his pocket, the other gripping his phone, though he hadn't looked at it in a while. The last message had come in just before eight pm.
"She's leaving now. Alone." He already knew.
He had eyes on her the moment she stepped into that charity event. She didn't tell him where she was going. She hadn't even bothered to lie. Just a casual, "I'll be out for a while," like he was someone who didn't deserve an explanation, he knew he had been away, but that was no excuse for her behaviour if anything it was unacceptable.
The cameras had caught everything. From the way she moved through the crowd, lingering near Ryan and Milan like she belonged there… to the wine incident, the conversation, and the card.
She thought she was discreet, but she wasn't.
Leonard had seen it all, the fake name, and how fluent she was in Chinese. The way Milan looked at her, the way she let him.
