Skye stood in front of the window, arms folded over the curve of her belly, there was no hiding it any more. And this life she was building… it wasn't safe any more.
She hadn't told anyone, not even the agency or the doctor that was assigned to her, or her best friend. The plan had been to buy time, figure it out, maybe leave the FCC before they found out that she had been lying.
She needed time to plan but she had waited too long, and now the hallway felt like it had eyes. Every glance lingered too long.
Her fingers trembled as she reached for her phone. She was thinking of calling in, maybe she could request a leave, citing personal reasons. It wouldn't stop them from asking questions, but it might buy her time. She could give birth, raise her child and all, they won't bat an eye.
She barely typed two words before the door slammed open. Leonard came in, she froze.
