Ryan got a text from Milan, it was cryptic. Ryan was glad Milan texted, he had been working on finding Xavier and taking control of his assets.
He didn't believe Xavier was dead.
He got ready and slipped in a hoodie drawn low, avoiding the creaky floorboards. His boots were caked in red dust, the same kind that covered the abandoned tennis courts outside.
He drove straight to the address that Milan had sent, it wasn't the penthouse, or a hotel. Or the mansion, no this was somewhere else. One more property that Milan had.
He followed the directions and went to the room, there was a location tracker that he followed.
Milan sat at the far end of the room, legs crossed, a tumbler of something dark in his hand. He didn't stand when Ryan entered, he didn't need to.
"Still hiding behind ruins," Ryan muttered, glancing around. "You should've let this place burn."
Milan tilted his head. "That's the difference between us, you forget and erase but I preserve."
