MIKO
I have been watching some videos on the internet.
Cooking videos have made me realize, painfully, that watching and learning is not the real thing. Standing in the kitchen with all the ingredients laid out in front of you and having to make a meal out of them is the true experience.
"Why won't you let me help?" Jude asks from behind where he is seated on his usual spot by the island, watching me curiously.
"Because. I said I am making you a meal, and that won't be the case if you end up doing anything."
"Do you know what you are doing?"
"Honestly? No," I chuckle as I turn and lean by the sink. "But I am determined to make you dinner tonight, so sit still and wait for it."
Jude giggles as he rests his chin on his palm, watching me across the kitchen. How I love it when he giggles. His whole face lights up, and I want to make him giggle, watch him, and just … savour moments like this with him.
