Chapter 156 - Chapter 155: Unveiling the Threat

Chapter 155: Unveiling the Threat

The war room was tense as Lylith stood at the center, her emerald eyes scanning the faces around her. Raizen sat at the head of the table, fingers steepled, waiting for her explanation.

"You said the Syndicate isn't the only enemy," Raizen said, his voice calm but demanding. "Who else is coming for me?"

Lylith took a slow breath before responding. "The Syndicate isn't just a criminal empire. It's part of something bigger. A hidden faction that manipulates the galactic balance from the shadows. They're called the Obsidian Covenant."

Selara crossed her arms. "Never heard of them."

Lylith nodded. "Few have. That's the point. They work through proxies—powerful factions like the Syndicate. But now that you've begun dismantling their influence, they're taking an interest in you."

Raizen leaned forward. "How do you know all this?"

She hesitated. "Because I worked for them."

The silence in the room became deafening.

Malakar's hand clenched into a fist. "And we're supposed to trust you?"

Lylith met Raizen's gaze. "I left them. But you need to understand—they don't let people leave."

Raizen studied her for a long moment, then gestured for her to continue.

The Covenant's Influence

Lylith activated a portable holo-device, bringing up a star map filled with red-marked locations. "The Obsidian Covenant operates in the shadows of Tier 5 to Tier 10 worlds, pulling strings behind major galactic powers. They don't act openly because they don't have to. They control people, industries, and technology in ways most governments don't even realize."

Nyx narrowed her eyes. "And what do they want with Raizen?"

Lylith turned back to him. "Your bloodline."

Raizen's fingers twitched. "Explain."

"Their experiments—Project Revenant, the Syndicate's research, everything you've uncovered—it all ties back to bloodline manipulation." She tapped on the hologram, bringing up a set of classified genetic data. "They believe in genetic superiority. They don't just want control—they want to craft the future rulers of the galaxy."

Raizen clenched his jaw. "And I'm part of that plan?"

Lylith nodded. "Your abilities, your rapid evolution, the way your Draconic bloodline is manifesting—it makes you a prime candidate for their next phase of control."

Selara frowned. "Then why aren't they trying to recruit him? Why send assassins?"

Lylith exhaled. "Because Raizen isn't following their script. He's an anomaly they didn't predict. That makes him a threat."

Raizen chuckled darkly. "So they either control me or kill me."

Lylith's expression was grim. "Exactly."

The Next Move

A long silence stretched over the room as the gravity of the situation settled. Finally, Liana spoke. "So what do we do?"

Raizen smirked. "We make sure they regret ever thinking they could control me."

Joran grinned. "Now that's a plan I can get behind."

Raizen turned back to Lylith. "You're staying here. You work for me now."

She raised an eyebrow. "And if I refuse?"

His smirk didn't fade. "Then I drop you out of the nearest airlock."

Lylith chuckled softly. "Fair enough."

The Revenant's engines roared as the ship changed course, heading toward the next battle. Raizen wasn't just fighting for power anymore.

He was fighting for his future.

And the galaxy was about to learn what that truly meant.
