Chapter 280 - Ch 280 : Erza and Kagura

"With all my strength—I will defeat you!"

Kagura gripped her cursed blade tightly and charged straight at Erza.

As her blade sliced through the air, sharp bursts of pressure echoed with every swing.

At such a short distance, even with Erza's quick reflexes, she only had enough time to raise her Benizakura sword in defense before being sent flying by Kagura's strike.

"I will absolutely defeat you!"

The moment Erza was knocked back, Kagura did not stop for even a second.

She relentlessly pursued her, her sword strikes raining down like an unstoppable storm.

Her furious assault was completely different from her previous composed fighting style—it was as if she had become a completely different warrior.

The sheer intensity of her attacks was also on a whole different level than before.

Even Erza found herself unexpectedly overwhelmed by Kagura's relentless offensive.

The moment Kagura unsheathed her blade, her magic surged to terrifying heights, amplifying her strength to an almost monstrous degree.

At this rate, Kagura might actually win…

But in the end, "might" was all it was.

BANG.

Without warning, Kagura's raging attacks came to an abrupt halt, as if they had struck an unbreakable wall.

No matter how much she struggled or lashed out, she could no longer stir up any further momentum.

Kagura's eyes widened as she stared at Erza, unable to utter a single word.

Her razor-sharp cursed blade—now firmly grasped in Erza's hand—was dripping with crimson blood from Erza's slender fingers.

Yet, despite the pain, Erza's grip did not waver in the slightest.

With a calm expression, Erza looked at the stunned Kagura and spoke softly, "I do not intend to trample on your resolve, but I have no intention of losing either. No matter how much distrust you have toward me, I will still do everything I can. So… please, let this end here."

The moment her words fell, the gleam of Erza's benizakura sword erupted like a dazzling flash of lightning.

Perhaps it lasted only for an instant.

Perhaps it was eternal.

By the time the radiant sword light had faded, Kagura's mind went blank—her thoughts scattered like dust in the wind.

When she finally regained her senses, she realized she was already lying on the ground.

The cursed blade that had once been in her grasp had been knocked away, lying a short distance away from her.

"I… I…"

Kagura struggled to stand, wanting to say something, but her body had already reached its limit.

Just remaining upright was draining the last vestiges of her strength.

"I…"

Bang!

At that moment, a faint yet distinct cracking sound came from above Kagura.

The next instant, the upper section of the pillar beside her inexplicably began to collapse.

Seeing this, Erza's expression changed.

Without a second thought, she lunged toward Kagura.

"Look out!"

The massive chunks of stone came crashing down, slamming into the ground with a resounding impact.

But Kagura remained unharmed, staring blankly at the sight before her—Erza had shielded her.

Erza's right leg was pinned under the fallen rubble, while Kagura herself had been saved from injury thanks to Erza's intervention.

"Why…?" Kagura muttered in disbelief.

Erza gazed at her and spoke softly, "I know you… No, I should say, I just remembered. I never knew your name, but… you are… Simon's little sister."

Kagura's eyes widened slightly, as if something had just clicked in her mind. "Could it be…?"

Erza nodded, a faint smile appearing at the corners of her lips.

"That's right. I was also born in Rosemary Village, just like Simon… and you. During the 'child hunts,' I was able to protect you. I'm so glad."

Tears unknowingly welled up in Kagura's eyes, streaming down her cheeks.

She covered her mouth with her hand, choking on her words as she murmured, "You… back then, from the 'hunters'..."

"Simon often talked about you," Erza said softly. "I always worried about you. I prayed for your safety, and even now, I still do."

With tears still lingering at the corners of her eyes, Kagura stepped forward to Erza's side.

She reached out, pushing away the rubble pinning Erza down, and murmured in a low voice, "I still haven't sorted out my emotions, but… this match… I…"

"I lost!"

A whisper-like voice echoed in Kagura's ears, and the next moment, an unbearable, piercing pain shot through her ribs.

Erza stood frozen, staring at the scene before her.

Minerva stood behind Kagura, holding her sword—Kagura's own blade—plunged deep into her side.

The sight… it was just like that moment, the one etched painfully into Erza's memory.

"The winner is Erza. But the points belong to me," Minerva sneered as she watched Kagura's body slowly collapse.

"I told you, didn't I? That I would show you the battle of a king. And a king only feasts on the finest—whether it's a mermaid's head or a fairy with its wings torn off. Ahahaha!"

"You bastard!!" Erza glared at Minerva, her rage almost uncontrollable.

Seeing Erza's furious expression, Minerva remained unfazed, her voice casual as she taunted, "You're next, Erza. But with the state you're in, the outcome is already decided."

Lying weakly on the ground, Kagura clutched her wounded side.

Her eyes, filled with desperation, locked onto Erza as she spoke in a broken voice, "Milliana… I leave her… to you…"

"Of course," Erza replied in a low voice.

"Millianna? That little cat?" Hearing Erza and Kagura's conversation, Minerva suddenly laughed.

With a wave of her hand, the unconscious Millianna appeared out of thin air, collapsing onto the ground.

"She's been down for a while now. The points go to me."

"Millianna!" Erza struggled, dragging her injured leg crushed by the rocks as she moved toward Millianna.

She picked her up and called out, "Hang in there, Millianna!"

"Blood?" Holding Millianna, Erza's body suddenly stiffened.

Slowly, she lifted her hand and saw it stained with bright red blood.

In disbelief, she turned Millianna over—her delicate back was now covered in deep, bloody wounds.

"This is..."

Minerva tilted her head slightly, her face showing an ice-cold smile.

"I got bored waiting, so I played a little pain game. Her screams were quite delightful, you know."

At that moment, Erza's expression froze.
