A sharp blade sliced across Erza's body, leaving a bleeding wound in its wake.
As she landed, Erza panted heavily—her body was already covered in multiple injuries, crimson blood steadily flowing from the gashes, draining her strength and will.
The edge of her sharp demon blade, Benizakura, had also begun to show signs of wear from repeatedly clashing against various armaments.
"So troublesome." Reign glanced at the wound Erza had left on his right arm and frowned.
"You should give up already. How long do you plan to keep up this desperate struggle? Even if, by some miracle, you manage to defeat me, there are beings far stronger than I within the Demon God's Soul."
"A desperate struggle, huh?"
The corner of Erza's lips curved into a complex smile.
"Maybe you're right. Maybe this is just a desperate struggle. Back on Tenrou Island, I already knew how formidable you all were. Even if I took you down, there were stronger Thrones waiting—so overwhelming that I couldn't even muster the will to fight. They were beings of utter despair."
"That's why I'm asking—why do you still fight like this?"
"Because... everyone else is fighting too," Erza whispered.
"Even when facing enemies we know we can't defeat, even when we know that no matter how hard we try, our small strength might not change anything... Even in such hopeless circumstances, everyone is still fighting. Fighting to turn the tide of despair. That's why I won't give up either. If I were to give up here, I wouldn't be able to face them again."
A strange brilliance shimmered over Erza's body, the blinding light forcing Reign to narrow his eyes.
"Second Magic Origin release—Requip: Armor of the Heavens!!" came her murmured voice.
As the radiance faded, what appeared before Reign was Erza clad in divine, celestial armor.
"Let's begin. I'll end this battle right now."
Erza raised her longsword and began walking toward Reign.
"Hmph, no matter how many sets of armor you switch into, the result won't change," Reign scoffed slightly, lifting his arm.
All of his armaments responded—hundreds, perhaps thousands of unknown weapons converged together, combining to form a massive, bizarrely shaped steel dragon.
"Go!"
With a flick of his wrist, the steel dragon let out a silent roar and lunged at Erza.
But she remained calm.
Raising her longsword, she slashed fiercely forward—the air split with a rending sound, and Reign's steel dragon was shattered.
The weapons that composed it clattered to the ground with a series of sharp metallic crashes.
Reign's expression turned ashen in an instant.
Before he could react, Erza had already launched herself forward with a powerful step.
Her sword came slicing down with a terrifying sound that tore through the air.
Reign's heart clenched, and he hastily retreated.
At the same time, Chains of the Gods extended from the void, attempting to bind Erza—but the moment they neared her, the overwhelming surge of magical energy surrounding her blew them away, not slowing her down in the slightest.
With a thunderous crash, Reign was sent flying like a cannonball, slamming into a pile of rubble with a sickeningly loud impact that made one's teeth ache.
The already unstable debris collapsed under the force, burying Reign beneath the wreckage.
Erza let out a slight breath, her gaze steady and intense as she looked toward the place where Reign had crashed.
"Damn you—I'm going to kill you!"
Boom!
The piled-up stones burst apart, and Reign's figure emerged through the settling dust.
The light armor he wore had been torn apart by Erza's strike, blood seeping from a deep wound in his abdomen—so severe that white bone could faintly be seen.
His expression twisted with pain and fury.
"You think this means you've won? It's not enough—nowhere near enough!!"
Reign stood tall, raising a hand.
Behind him, a gate formed from violet magic slowly opened.
From within, a long sword of ancient design, emanating an overwhelming sense of majesty, floated out.
The moment it appeared, the very space around them began to tremble.
"Unlimited Armament—Blade of Judgement."
Reign's low, thunderous voice echoed, sending a chill straight through Erza's body.
"You're strong, Fairy Queen Titania. The last time I fought His Majesty Nord, he exploited two of my weaknesses and defeated me with ease. I trained for so long afterward, thinking I had reached perfection... But you, Fairy Queen Titania—you've done well. To force me this far… I must admit, I'm impressed."
"I'll gladly accept that praise without reservation," Erza said quietly.
"But! This is where it ends."
Reign's expression turned cold as he raised the violet longsword in his hand.
The dense, overwhelming aura it emitted seemed capable of swallowing the sky.
"This strike will end it all."
"I won't let you!" Erza tried to charge forward, but the moment she took a step, her wounds worsened.
Caught off guard, she dropped to one knee, coughing up blood.
Watching Reign slowly swing his blade down, a deep sense of frustration filled her heart.
BOOM!
A deafening explosion ripped through the air.
The smile on Reign's face suddenly froze, and his entire body seemed to lose all strength as he slowly collapsed forward.
With a dull thud, he fell to the ground—motionless.
"Tch, so many damn pests."
"Oi, Erza, you alright? You don't look good all bloodied up like that."
Erza's eyes widened as she looked toward the two figures emerging from behind Reign's fallen body.
"Gray! Laxus!" she called out.
"Sorry we're late. The battlefield's a mess—we didn't notice what was going on over here," Gray said, scratching his head.
He had several wounds across his body from the earlier chaos, but none serious enough to hinder his fighting ability.
Laxus let out a grunt.
"Watch yourself. Fairy Tail isn't the kind of guild that gets taken down by trash like this."
With that, he turned into a flash of lightning and vanished from sight.
"That guy… he's still the same as ever," Gray said with a helpless shake of his head, watching the direction Laxus had disappeared to.
"That's just Laxus's style."
A faint smile appeared on Erza's lips as she slowly stood upright.
Looking down at Reign, who lay unconscious on the ground, she said, "Let's tie him up. That really was a close call… if he had landed that last strike, I probably wouldn't be standing here right now."
"Yeah." As Gray tied up the unconscious Reign with special bindings that suppressed magic, he added, "The Thrones of the Demon God's Soul… none of them are pushovers. I wonder how things are going over at the castle. Most of the other Thrones should be there."
"Yeah." Erza nodded.
"Erza, Gray!" Suddenly, a call echoed from the sky.
Erza and Gray looked up to see Carla, along with Happy and Lily, three exceed, flying towards them.
"Erza, Gray, hurry to the Mercurius Palace. Noel and the others need help!"
Happy shouted before Erza and Gray could ask anything.
