"Sasuke, where are we going next?"
Seeing that Naruto was no longer in Amegakure, Karin looked toward Sasuke for direction.
Sasuke snorted. "Since I can't fight Naruto here, then we're going to Konoha. I'll destroy it."
The moment he mentioned destroying Konoha again, Suigetsu and Jūgo frowned. Suigetsu scratched his head. "Sasuke, seriously, you're obsessed with destroying your own hometown."
Obito interjected, "Sasuke, I think attacking Konoha is meaningless now. Most of the combat-capable shinobi have been deployed to the battlefield. The ones left in the village are civilians or those with little fighting ability. Destroying them won't bring you any satisfaction, will it?"
Sasuke fell silent. Obito had a point. There was no pride in attacking the helpless.
He didn't seek weak prey. He sought the strongest. To become stronger himself, he needed to defeat powerful opponents.
Seeing Sasuke's expression shift, Obito knew he was winning him over. He pressed further. "Instead, we should head directly to the battlefield. The Allied Shinobi Forces have gathered elites from all five great villages. Defeating them will not only prove your power but will also force Naruto to show up. He won't just stand by and watch his comrades die."
Sasuke's eyes narrowed. That made sense.
Suigetsu's lips twitched. Was this guy serious? Taking on the entire Allied Shinobi Forces?
Jūgo said calmly, "Sasuke, I'll follow you wherever you go."
Karin nodded. "Me too."
Suigetsu sighed. "Fine, let's fight then."
Sasuke smirked. "Then it's decided. Our next target is the Allied Shinobi Forces."
Obito nodded with satisfaction. "Excellent. Everything is proceeding according to plan."
With that, the space-time vortex of Kamui swirled open, and the group vanished.
Meanwhile, at one of the Allied Forces' camps...
Kankurō was overseeing a surprise attack unit. The camp had just been set up when a sensor-nin suddenly frowned.
"Something's wrong... Is this a chakra interference technique?"
Kankurō turned toward him. "What is it?"
"There's interference in the area. My sensory ability isn't as accurate, but I can definitely feel something approaching us."
Kankurō narrowed his eyes. "Could be enemy infiltration. Everyone, stay on high alert!"
The shinobi in the camp drew weapons and braced themselves.
From the edge of the forest, a lone figure emerged.
Gasps broke out as everyone raised their kunai.
The sensor-nin's eyes widened. "It's Ushida!"
The man collapsed to the ground.
The sensor-nin leapt from the trench in excitement. "It's really him! I can confirm his chakra! He's from the Aburame Clan, part of our forward recon unit!"
Kankurō called out, "Wait! Be careful! It might be a trap!"
The Konoha sensor-nin shook his head. "I'll save him! There might be a trap, but I can't leave a comrade behind!"
"Hyūga Kei!"
"Got it!" Kei activated his Byakugan. "Byakugan!"
Through his eyes, he focused on Ushida and the sensor-nin rushing forward.
As the sensor-nin knelt down, he called out, "Ushida! Hey! Can you hear me? Wake up!"
Ushida stirred and murmured, "G-get... away... from me..."
Confused, the sensor-nin hesitated.
Hyūga Kei's expression darkened. He saw chakra that wasn't from the Aburame Clan—a foreign chakra hidden inside Ushida's gourd.
"Wait, something's wrong! His gourd's filled with foreign chakra. Those aren't kikaichū insects!"
Kankurō looked shocked. "What did you say?!"
"Sensor-nin, get away from him! It's a trap!" Kei shouted.
The sensor-nin turned, eyes wide in confusion. Ushida's body suddenly jerked to life and grabbed him.
"Ushida, what are you—?!"
"I'm sorry... I can't control my body..."
Kankurō's eyes narrowed. Thin, nearly invisible chakra threads ran from Ushida's limbs.
"This is... Puppet Technique!"
Everyone sprang into motion.
Ushida wrapped his arms around the sensor-nin and rushed forward.
Omoi growled, "He's using our guy as a human shield!"
Kei called out, "There's an explosive tag inside the gourd! If they get any closer, both will die!"
Ittan, an Iwagakure shinobi, cursed. "Damn it! I told you not to let your guard down!"
Kankurō whipped out his chakra threads, trying to take control.
From the treetops, Sasori watched. "Deidara."
Deidara grinned. "On it."
Kei, still focused with Byakugan, sensed it instantly. "Everyone, be careful! Deidara's explosive clay is inside the gourd!"
Ittan paled. "He's right. That's Deidara's clay!"
Kankurō yelled, "Ittan! Now!"
Ittan formed a seal. "Earth Style: Seismic Core!"
With a rumble, a square section of the earth collapsed into a pit.
Ushida, still carrying the trapped sensor-nin, was pulled into the depression just as Deidara raised his hand.
"Katsu!"
BOOM!
A massive explosion rocked the area.
Deidara laughed. "Art... is an explosion!"
Smoke billowed into the air. Sasori looked at Deidara. "Check. Are they dead?"
Zetsu emerged and pressed his hand to the ground. "...Alive!"
Deidara clicked his tongue. "Tch. They sank the earth and dodged the blast."
The sunken square protected the core of the camp. Everyone had survived, though barely.
The sensor-nin screamed in pain. His leg had been blown off.
Kankurō cursed and retracted his threads. "Damn it, we didn't have enough time. We couldn't save Ushida. Medic-nin, help the sensor-nin!"
Tong nodded and rushed to administer first aid.
Omoi drew his blade. "This is war. We don't have time to grieve."
Kankurō looked up. More figures emerged from the treeline.
"Everyone, get ready! The next wave is coming!"
Omoi sighed. "Can't even catch my breath."
Two enemies rushed forward.
Omoi charged. "Cloud Style: Crescent Moon Slash!"
His blade struck, pushing the attackers back. Sunlight revealed their identities.
The injured Konoha shinobi gasped. "No way... it's them!"
