Chapter 63 - Q&A and Some Updates

(T/N: These are some of the author's notes and answers to questions, so let it be.)

First, I've got some good news for everyone.

I just got home.

Turns out that slacking off actually helped with my migraine.

No overtime at work tomorrow, so I should be able to resume updates.

Next, I'll answer some questions from those who've been supporting me.

Question 1: When did Doflamingo eat his Devil Fruit?

Doflamingo was eight years old when his father took him away from Mary Geoise to the northernmost part of the world.

Then came the infamous "Celestial Dragon gets beaten up" phase.

His family was attacked, their home was burned down, and they lost everything.

His father realized how naïve he had been, but it was too late.

They were forced to scavenge for food, begging for help from Homing's old connections.

Considering how they were captured and beaten, they might have even resorted to theft.

This experience caused a shift in Doflamingo's mindset.

What the hell?!I was living just fine in Mary Geoise—why do I have to suffer like this?

At this point, he was still looking after his little brother and bringing food home for their mother. He still had some humanity left.

But about two years later… their mother died.

Literally.

That was the breaking point.

He started to hate everything—the Celestial Dragons in Mary Geoise, and especially his father.

Then came the part where they were treated like human targets.

Hung from the city gates, humiliated, beaten.

His father was useless, his brother was powerless, and death was right around the corner.

That's when he awakened Conqueror's Haki.

(Looking at it now, Katakuri is the ultimate little sister simp—he awakened his Conqueror's Haki when his sister got hurt.)

Poor Rosinante…

This also shows how much Doflamingo valued his pride.

He awakened Conqueror's Haki not for survival, but because his dignity had been shattered.

Then, the Snot Monster (Trebol) and the other three rescued him.

How do we know this?

Check his clothes and headband in chapter 724.

Then they asked him:

"Do you want the power to take revenge?"

They handed him a Devil Fruit and a gun.

Doflamingo went home and shot his father.

So, by the time he executed his father, he already had the String-String Fruit and a gun.

Question 2: Why can't Doflamingo create magnetic or gamma threads?

In the previous chapter's footnotes, I already explained why he can't generate things like magnetic or gamma strings.

Note 1: The Gold-Gold Fruit is a Paramecia-type, categorized under "Dominance."

The classifications go like this:

Dominance-type: Gold-Gold Fruit, Pica's Stone-Stone Fruit

Superhuman-type: (former) Luffy's Rubber-Rubber Fruit, Jozu's Diamond-Diamond Fruit, Bellamy's Spring-Spring Fruit, Alvida's Smooth-Smooth Fruit

Creation-type: String-String Fruit, Mr. 3's Wax-Wax Fruit, Cracker's Biscuit-Biscuit Fruit, Katakuri's Mochi-Mochi Fruit

Special Ability-type: Boa Hancock's Love-Love Fruit, Kuma's Paw-Paw Fruit, Baccarat's Luck-Luck Fruit, Whitebeard's Quake-Quake Fruit, the Op-Op Fruit

Now, let's break it down:

1. Dominance-type: These fruits allow the user to control an existing material but not create it.

Pica can control stone.Tesoro can control gold. But neither can create them from nothing.

2. Superhuman-type: These fruits modify the user's body.

Luffy's rubber body (well… former rubber body, if you know, you know).Jozu's diamond skin.Bellamy's ability to turn into a spring.

3. Special Ability-type: These fruits grant unique powers.

Hancock's petrification. Kuma's repelling ability. Baccarat's luck absorption. Whitebeard's ability to create earthquakes. The Op-Op Fruit, which can manipulate bodies, electricity, and gravity within its operating range.

(Baccarat is a concierge on Gran Tesoro and an executive member of Gild Tesoro's crew.)

4. Creation-type: These fruits allow the user to produce tangible substances.

Katakuri can create mochi. Cracker can create biscuits. Mr. 3 can create wax. And Doflamingo can create strings.

But since his fruit is not a Special Ability-type, he has no supernatural abilities beyond making string. No gamma rays.No magnetic fields.

Gamma rays are high-frequency electromagnetic waves emitted from atomic decay. Kizaru, Kid, and Law might be able to mess with that, but Doflamingo? Not a chance.

As for "magnetic strings," that's just a convenient way to visualize it. Magnetic fields don't actually form visible lines, so… yeah.

That's why, in my story, when I describe things like protein-based sutures and artificial nylon muscle fibers, it makes sense.

They exist in real life, after all. I'm not just making stuff up.

Also, Katakuri's Mochi-Mochi Fruit was the first special Paramecia—it has both Creation and Superhuman properties.

Question 3: Inconsistent power level descriptions?

I revised all the ranking terms.

Here's the final version for reference:

Five Levels of Mastery:

Beginner – Just grasping the basics.

Adept – Some practical control.

Skilled – Significant improvement.

Expert – Mastering the ability.

Master – Peak level.

(T/N: I'll try to edit the next chapters according to this, it's just that before, these mystery levels were always changing. I tried to edit, but I didn't understand those levels.)

Armament Haki:

Beginner: Basic control, can momentarily hit Logia users or slightly enhance body.

Adept: Can coat hands in Haki, making them appear metallic.

Skilled: "Advanced" Haki—polished shine, metallic texture.

Expert: Can make it flow (Ryuo).

Master: External projection, internal destruction.

Observation Haki:

Beginner: Slightly enhanced perception, but unreliable.

Adept: Consistently usable, 1 km range, detects movement and life signals.

Skilled: Range expands to 10 km.

Expert: Can see a few seconds into the future.

Master: Further extends future sight.

Special techniques:

Otohime's Mind Control

Roger's Voice of All Things

Redfield's Telepathy

Conqueror's Haki:

Beginner: Unstable bursts, emotion-driven.

Adept: Controlled activation.

Skilled: Can selectively target enemies.

Expert: Can split the sky when clashing.

Master: Can infuse attacks with Conqueror's Haki.

Special technique: Shanks' "Observation Killer"

Final Notes

Some readers think the protagonist is using too many original techniques. Others feel he's sticking to old skills.

Can't please everyone.

I like his original abilities, so I won't abandon them completely.

But the new techniques I created? I enjoy writing them, so they're staying too.

On typos and inconsistencies—please point them out!

I'm a newbie, writing late at night while working a day job. Mistakes happen.

And to everyone reading this—thank you for your support!

Wishing you all good health.

Time to sleep. See you tomorrow.
