"What are you doing here?"
Eryx's voice cut through the air, sharp and unexpected, making Lunara's head snap up. Her heart stuttered as her gaze met his, worried, unreadable, intense.
She blinked, her vision already blurring. No, not here. Not now. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she forced a small smile onto her face.
"What are you doing here? You said you'd pick me up in the afternoon," she said lightly, stepping forward to meet him. Her hand reached for his, fingers wrapping around his like an anchor. "Let's talk over there." She tilted her head toward a quieter corner, eager to move away from the corridor.
Eryx didn't move at first. His eyes studied her face carefully, as if searching for a crack beneath her smile.
Then, without a word, he gently unwrapped her hand from his.
