Dylan looked down disdainfully at Peeves, who was splayed out on the ground.
The poltergeist was lying there with his limbs flung wide, a pathetic-looking dark smoke constantly rising from his semi-transparent body. His eyes stared blankly up at the overcast sky – looking every bit like someone who had just been utterly thrashed.
Dylan let out a cold snort.
His gaze shifted, falling onto the system panel.

------
Seeing the prompt from the system, Dylan raised an eyebrow high.
"Three powers of Non-Beings?"
And they were all Traits! Dylan couldn't help but feel a surge of interest.
Could the system really allow him to transform back and forth between a Dementor, a Boggart, and Peeves?
With that thought in mind, Dylan immediately extracted the achievement reward.
In a daze, Dylan felt as though some kind of change was happening within him. Especially his previously mastered Trait – the Dementor's Kiss. It felt like it was now merging with this new transformation!
Soon, when Dylan opened his eyes, he had adapted to the abilities of those three Traits.
Dylan pursed his lips in a slightly displeased way. "I thought I'd be able to completely transform into a Dementor or a Boggart. Turns out I just gained *some* of the abilities these three Non-Beings possess."
The so-called Dementor Power originally only allowed Dylan to absorb positive emotions from others, just like a Dementor. However, he already had the Dementor's Kiss mastered. So, after combining with this Trait, the Dementor Power and the Dementor's Kiss had evolved into an even stronger ability.
Dylan could now use the Dementor's Kiss to directly absorb a target's positive emotions and convert them into his own magical energy.
And not just that, he could also absorb negative, despairing emotions! Just as positive emotions could be converted into magic, despairing emotions could be converted into Dylan's life force. This life force, when used on Dylan's body, not only made his vitality stronger but also allowed injured wounds to heal very quickly. Furthermore, life force represented everything the body needed – whether it was speed, endurance, or strength, they would all be greatly enhanced as a result.
"Maybe after this, I won't even need the Unforgivable Curses. I could just punch someone, and it would probably kill them instantly." Dylan smacked his lips.
The Dementor Power wasn't limited to just that. Not only had Dylan's control over the Dementor's Kiss greatly improved, becoming almost indistinguishable from that cast by a *real* Dementor, but he could now even absorb *actual souls*. When a soul was digested by him, the strength of his own soul would also increase.
Even more crucially... his *lifespan* would actually be extended because of it!
This discovery surprised Dylan, but also felt somewhat logical.
"So... I don't need to research some kind of immortality spell myself at all? I'm basically immortal now?" Dylan tilted his head.
Previously, one reason he researched magic was to create an alchemical creation that was safer, more efficient, and wouldn't have severe side effects compared to the Philosopher's Stone – something that could grant him eternal life. But the achievement system had just completely removed that motivation.
What was there left to research? Forget eternal life, he was getting full-on immortality arranged for him! As long as there were human souls for him to absorb, he wouldn't die! Didn't this mean that as long as humanity existed and wasn't wiped out, he could live indefinitely?
Though how long humanity could exist was anyone's guess. Who knew, maybe the universe would just explode one day? Nobody could really say for sure. But the probability of the universe exploding was still relatively small, at least compared to the probability of humans driving themselves to extinction.
However, Dylan discovered something else. The lifespan he gained by absorbing souls wasn't limited to just humans. This meant he could drain and consume human souls? Yes, that was fine. He could drain and consume the souls of other creatures? That worked too.
"Combining this with my Pet Carrier Suitcase... I feel like I've already achieved immortality, don't I?"
As for how he *felt* about this realisation – Dylan didn't feel much about it at all. It was as if being immortal or not wasn't particularly appealing to him. And in fact, that was true. For Dylan, what was always appealing was interesting magic, and the process of researching magic – whether gaining new knowledge or creating knowledge and creating spells. That was what was truly interesting.
Directly gaining the ability of immortality, for Dylan, just meant he had a permanent opportunity to research magic.
Smacking his lips, Dylan didn't dwell too much on this, instead thinking about something else. "Even if a Dementor absorbs someone else's soul, it's not certain whether it's actually digested or if the soul just remains inside them, sustaining their existence in the world using the other person's soul." But he could now directly increase the strength of his own soul and extend his lifespan by absorbing souls.
And he could absorb not only positive, happy emotions but also negative ones. This actually surpassed Dylan's understanding of a Dementor's inherent abilities. In his view, Dementors just absorbed happy memories and emotions until they eventually devoured a person's soul. But he could do that *and* do things beyond what a Dementor could do.
Dylan rubbed his chin. "No, that's not right. If a Dementor absorbs someone's soul, and the person is left without a soul, just a hollow shell, let alone positive emotions, wouldn't all negative emotions also disappear?" Dylan thought about how Dementors, while absorbing positive emotions from others, would also make them feel and remember past pains. But once the person's soul was swallowed, were these negative emotions something that completely overwhelmed the individual, or were they taken away by the Dementor as well?
Dylan felt it must be the latter.
"So it's not that the ability evolved, but rather that I've completely mastered the power of the Dementor." Dylan thought about how he started with the power from Nyx Cthulhu, then the Dementor's Kiss, and now possessed the complete Dementor Power...
"I really feel like I'm sprinting down a very unconventional road."
Wasn't he basically a real, living Dementor now?
Taking a deep breath, Dylan began to sense the powers of the Boggart and Peeves. These two Non-Beings were inherently not as powerful as Dementors, so Dylan didn't have too many expectations when sensing them. But the final result still surprised him.
"Fear Transformation?"
Dylan's eyes widened slightly. Just like a real Boggart, using the Boggart Power Trait, he could actually sense a target's fear and transform into whatever form they were most afraid of!
"I was just saying how Boggarts' transformations were even more impressive than Animagi, and now I've mastered this ability??" Dylan smacked his lips again.
After carefully sensing it, Dylan felt a little disappointed again. "Unfortunately, while I can perform fear transformation, just like a Boggart, I can't use the transformed shape to create damage that affects reality."
This was a fundamental difference from being an Animagus. Becoming an Animagus allowed him to genuinely turn into a Norwegian Ridgeback and gain the ability to breathe fire. That was something that could cause real harm to enemies. And with the dragon's wings, he could perform high-intensity, long-distance flights.
But a Boggart's transformation required staying near the target. As soon as he went beyond a certain distance or range, Dylan would revert to his original form. Most importantly, he couldn't use the transformed shape to cause any damage, much less possess the special abilities of the form he transformed into. For example, if he turned into a Basilisk, he couldn't kill people with his gaze like a real Basilisk. He could only put on a show and scare people.
"But even just the ability to transform at will is powerful enough," he mused.
However, what Dylan felt regretful about again was that the three Non-Being powers he obtained were just Traits, not spells. So this meant he could only *possess* this ability. Perhaps he could research it further and try to decipher the principles and key points behind these abilities. But it wasn't like his max-level spells, which gave him direct access to knowledge about the spell at all levels.
"If Boggart transformation was a spell, I think my Transfiguration spell would have reached max level already," Dylan sighed softly.
Yes, that was right, his Transfiguration spell was still stuck at level nine. It was still one level away from being maxed out. But this single level had held him back for a long time.
"Maybe I should set aside some time to continue studying Transfiguration. But now that I've mastered the Boggart's transformation power – although it's only fear transformation – it should at least give me some new guidance and help." Dylan shook his head.
There was nothing for it; the scope of Transfiguration was simply too vast. Therefore, even though the Transfiguration spell he had mastered was a simple one, truly reaching max level was incredibly difficult.
Meanwhile...
Seven figures draped in tattered grey robes slowly descended from high in the sky. The lower hems of their robes swept over the rocks, carrying an icy chill that even stung the listless Peeves, who was lying flat on the ground, snapping him back to awareness.
However, the Dementors showed no intention of attacking Peeves whatsoever.
As putrid mist spread around, the seven hunched figures of the Dementors slowly gathered around the trembling Peeves. Even though the Dementors weren't planning to harm him, seeing these terrifying creatures surrounding him made Peeves' semi-transparent body tremble involuntarily.
Seeing this, the Dementors stopped a few steps away from Peeves, making no further move forward.
Peeves was startled. How did he get the feeling he was seeing *pity* in the eyes of these Dementors?
(What?!)
He blinked. Peeves even felt the chill in the air around him was no longer so biting; instead, it was replaced by a sourness and resonance of shared suffering.
Could it be...
Recalling how this little human wizard suddenly transformed into a monster even more terrifying than a Dementor earlier, these Dementors seemed to have been scared off and fled in various directions...
So... this little human wizard had even subdued these Dementors?
*Gulp*. He swallowed a mouthful of non-existent spit. Peeves relaxed slightly, then looked towards Dylan. The seven Dementors also looked at their "master," who transformed into a multi-eyed monster without a second thought.
Seeing that their master was shaking his head as if lost in thought, one of the seven Dementors, 'Little A', waved at Peeves, gesturing for him to back up. Immediately after, the seven Dementors, along with Peeves, retreated even further away from Dylan. But they didn't go *too* far, instead maintaining a distance where Dylan could still see them and summon them back at any moment.
By this time, Dylan was already sensing Peeves' ability.
"As expected, the most useless of the three Non-Beings is the biggest waste," Dylan muttered, a smirk playing on his lips.
Peeves' ability, to him, was utterly useless. It was just manipulating objects – the ability to move and control small items. Peeves typically used this ability to set up pranks, throw things everywhere, or float in the air to scare people. To Dylan, this ability was like pulling down his trousers to fart – completely unnecessary and ineffective. His Levitation Charm was already at max level.
The only thing worth mentioning was that Dylan could control other objects without a wand or even magic. This ability felt like an extension of his own body, obeying his every command. The other two Non-Being powers were similar in this regard.
"Tch, maybe I'll use it someday if I'm completely out of options and don't have a drop of magic left," Dylan mused, shaking his head.
At this point, Dylan had sensed all three of the Non-Being powers one by one. The most useful, naturally, was the Dementor Power. Not just useful, but extremely, incredibly useful. Solely relying on the Dementor Power, he had not only raised his previously level one Dementor's Kiss to max level but also simultaneously gained the full power of a Dementor to absorb positive emotions, negative emotions, and even souls. And he could use the absorbed emotions and souls to increase his magic, life force, soul strength, and lifespan.
Moderately useful was the Boggart's fear transformation power. Aside from allowing Dylan to transform into any shape, it also allowed him to sense what the target's deepest fear was. The latter, in Dylan's opinion, was far more useful than the former. Knowing directly what someone feared allowed him to grasp their weakness. As for whether he needed to transform into that specific form? Actually, just knowing what the person feared was enough. Even without transforming, Dylan could completely create an illusory scene using magic, or simply use Transfiguration to transform other objects, which was also possible.
And Peeves' ability was the worst.
