Surrounded by the Ice Emperor, Di Tian, and the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings, Lin Yun shared everything he knew.
"The reason the Dragon God went mad is simple. He touched the threshold of the Creator God's realm and attempted to break through to that level. In the end, he failed—and that drove him insane," Lin Yun explained.
The Dragon God's madness was similar to a cultivation deviation. Perhaps it also had something to do with his own mental instability. After all, what sane person could split into personalities that were both violent and kind, benevolent and evil—not to mention combining mindless aggression with a lovestruck fool?
That said, while the Dragon God failed in his breakthrough, it wasn't a complete failure.
Consider the Nine Great Dragon Kings, all of them god-king level. Beyond them, the Five Great God-Kings of the Divine Realm were no weaklings either. Add in the numerous other deities of the Divine Realm, and the Dragon God's combat record was on par with Elaicose's.
Elaicose single-handedly overturned the entire Holy Demon Continent. If the Dragon God hadn't regained his senses at the last moment and allowed the Asura God to split him in two, he likely would have plowed through the entire Divine Realm from south to north.
Too bad he had a screw loose.
"Even though he failed, he probably gained a fraction of that realm's power. Otherwise, there's no way he could have beaten all of you like that," Lin Yun said. "And at my peak, I could chase god-kings around like dogs—and I'm just half of the Dragon God. A normal god-king wouldn't have that kind of strength."
"So that's it. He went mad trying to break through to the Creator God's realm?" The Fire Dragon King nodded thoughtfully.
"Tch. Still just weak," the Ice Dragon King sneered, her tone dripping with disdain. "Too weak to play the game but still couldn't resist. Ended up not only killing himself but dragging us down with him. That old dragon was nothing but a curse!"
"He's not actually dead yet!" Lin Yun corrected.
"What?! Not dead?!" The Ice Dragon King's eyebrows shot up, her face instantly flushing with rage. "Quick, tell me where that old bastard is hiding! I'm going to kill him myself!"
"That bastard slaughtered us all, and I thought he'd at least die with us—but no, he just slunk off somewhere?!"
"Hey, honey, easy, easy! Don't get worked up!" The Fire Dragon King quickly wrapped his arms around the Ice Dragon King, trying to calm her down.
Lin Yun stared at them, his expression growing increasingly odd.
Were their elements reversed or something?
Why did the Fire Dragon King seem so steady and composed while the Ice Dragon King acted like a powder keg ready to explode at the slightest spark?
Noticing Lin Yun's strange look, the two Dragon Kings flushed slightly in embarrassment. The Ice Dragon King huffed and crossed her arms. "What're you staring at? This is just how I am!"
"Oh? You think you're tough?" Lin Yun's eyes widened as his draconic aura surged uncontrollably. "You've got a temper? Well, so do I! I inherited the Dragon God's violent side—you really wanna test me?"
"Come on, let's fight! You've been asleep for so long—must be starving, right? How about a taste of my fist to tide you over?"
Lin Yun rolled up his right sleeve, his fair and well-proportioned arm instantly swelling into a gleaming golden dragon claw. His golden eyes narrowed into crimson slits.
"Bring it on! Who's scared of you?!" The Ice Dragon King's eyes blazed as her own draconic aura erupted, clashing with Lin Yun's. The air between them trembled with the force of their collision.
"Peace, peace! Let's all stay calm!" The Fire Dragon King pleaded, his face twisted in distress as he clung tightly to the Ice Dragon King's slender waist, shooting desperate glances at Di Tian.
Di Tian immediately understood. In three quick strides, he slid to his knees before Lin Yun and hugged his leg. "Great One, please calm down! Do not let rage cloud your judgment!"
Thanks to Di Tian and the Fire Dragon King's frantic efforts, the two glaring dragons finally backed down, each turning away with a huff.
"Alright, Old Gold, don't take my wife's temper to heart. She's just cranky from sleeping too long!" The Fire Dragon King stepped forward with an apologetic smile. With a wave of his hand toward the Ice Fire Yin Yang Well, a radiant right arm bone—crimson and crystalline like red crystal—flew out of the water and landed in his palm.
"To thank you for answering our questions, let me give you your reward first. Here, take it!"
The Fire Dragon King slung an arm around Lin Yun's shoulders and shoved the Fire Dragon King's divine-grade right arm bone into his hands.
"Ah, this is too much!" Lin Yun protested verbally but made no move to refuse, swiftly stashing the bone into his storage device before throwing an arm around the Fire Dragon King in return.
"Old Fire, you're the reasonable one here. We're all brothers and sisters of the dragon race—who acts this prickly with their own kin? We're Dragon Kings! Shouldn't we at least have some dignity?"
"Yeah, yeah, sure," the Fire Dragon King nodded absently, secretly rolling his eyes.
This Golden Dragon King is the last person who should be talking about dignity!
"Alright, Old Gold, we understand why the Dragon God went mad. But after we fell, did something else happen?" The Fire Dragon King frowned, his voice laced with anger. "During this time, I've tried using my remnant soul to communicate with the laws of Douluo Star, only to find they've become oppressively harsh toward our kind."
"Beasts cannot become gods? Why not? What happened in the Divine Realm?"
The Fire Dragon King's barrage of questions not only piqued the Ice Dragon King's curiosity but also had Bing Di and Di Tian staring at Lin Yun with rapt attention.
After all, these two were the ones truly suffering under the oppressive laws—especially Di Tian. Without these restrictions, given tens or hundreds of thousands of years, his Black Dragon King bloodline and the Dragon God Claw would have easily made him at least a peak first-class god.
Instead, he wasn't even a divine attendant now, needing the Dragon God Claw just to unleash god-level attacks.
Pathetic.
"As for that..." Lin Yun fell silent for a moment before speaking uncertainly. "I only have some guesses—no way to confirm if they're true. After the Dragon God War, I was sealed away for countless years. There's a lot I don't know."
"No matter. Speak freely. The Ice Dragon King and I can help verify," the Fire Dragon King said casually.
"Fine, but let me reiterate—this is all speculation. I don't know if it's true." Lin Yun emphasized once more, his survival instincts in full swing. (So does the author!)
"The rule that beasts cannot become gods was actually decreed by the Dragon God himself!"
"What?!" *4
