"Mate," my wolf spoke loudly in my mind. 
The smell hit me first. A smoky cedarwood, dark and heavy. My body reacted before my head even had a chance to process what was going on, and then I saw him.
Alpha Elias Beaumont. He was tall, and handsome. His full dark hair made me feel bald and emerald eyes were sharper than the edge of a knife.

I took one step closer and he retreated.

The forest opened to an area where The Mother's ritual circle glowed with evil red light. In the middle, Orion fought against invisible bonds, his body suspended in midair.


"Let him go!" I screamed, racing forward.


The Mother turned, her ageless face breaking into a cruel smile. "Ah, the other half comes. Perfect timing."


Behind her stood Celeste, her hands shining with blue magic—not fighting The Mother, but helping her.


"You," I whispered, deception cutting deep. "Why?"
