Ella's phone continued ringing, an unknown number flashing on the top of her screen. She recognized it as the same number she had gotten missed calls from, in the morning
After a beat, Ella answered the call.
But before she could utter a word, a delicate voice came from the other side—
"Hello."
Ella stiffened, "Mom…?"
"Return to the Yu Mansion."
Ella glanced at Adrian who was smoothening her dress, "Mom, I can't today…"
"Now." Mrs. Yu's voice was stern compared to how she had talked to her yesterday at the party.
Before Ella could say a word, Mrs. Yu hung up.
Feeling a piercing gaze on her, Ella looked up at Adrian with a smile, "Baby, I…"
"Need to go?" Adrian reached out to play with her long hair.
Ella fell silent for a beat before she shifted a little away from him.
Her hair trailed down his fingers, making him frown.
When he looked at her, the girl had her head lowered as she twiddled with her index fingers.
The corner of his lips twitched.
