Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

….

"OK and?"

"Each of those wires is connected to a part of this roof. If you pull on them hard, you'll remove a significant chunk of the roof and risk being disqualified"

The young woman explained with a confident smirk on her face. However, even though she displayed a great deal of confidence, inwardly, she felt a bit nervous, and her heart was beating faster than normal.

Defeating Taro in a one-on-one was a tall order for her. He was essentially a miniature version of All Might and could fly. Her quirk was very useful, but she still struggled to think of any surefire way that could completely defeat her brother.

Fortunately for her, Taro was indeed powerful. However, that in no way meant it was impossible to beat him, just difficult.

Taro twitched his arm just slightly and felt how tightly stretched the wires truly were. If he moved carelessly, what Momo had described would indeed happen, and thus, he was trapped.

Too much sudden movement and he risks being disqualified, She planned to use the rules in her favor in order to win.

"You're really smart Momo"

He praised her with a small smile on his face. However, despite the smile, he felt a bit troubled as he began to think, or rather, he began to weigh what risks he was willing to take.

With a huff of his breath, he pulled his left arm towards his chest and as a result one of the four corners of the roof broke off taking with it part of the wall, the piece flew towards Taro and crashed against his body and splintered into rubble but he remained unmoved.

Seeing the action Momo was about to warn against such recklessness, however, her words got stuck to her throat as she realized what he was doing was not what she thought.

With one of his hands free, this gave him leeway to lean his torso to the side, loosen the wire on his right arm and gave him the opportunity to use his free hand to grab the wire on that arm tightly, with his left hand. He then used his right arm to pull and snapped the wire in two, freeing his right arm.

After he freed his arms, he stretched open his legs, making the wires loosen and then used his hands to snap them in two and freed both his legs, leaving only his torso and neck still tied by the wire.

Momo watched her brother easily and slowly break free from the trap she had set. She couldn't help but sigh in disappointment. Disappointed in herself, she didn't think to cover all her bases or perhaps she underestimated her brother?

Regardless of which it was, it brought her no small amount of frustration. At this rate, she will never be able to prove that she doesn't need his protection.

"Good try tho, when you revealed your plan, I thought you had gotten me. Better luck next time Mo-chan"

He said while snapping the last wire that had been tied to his neck and then floating off the ground towards the bomb.

"My team wins"

He said, fully affirming his victory before he even touched the bomb.

however Momo was not done, she quickly stood on her feet, she then spun on the balls of her feet, swiftly turning to face the cage and kicked the cage straight off the roof, preventing Taro from touching it and sending it descending down towards the ground

Taro couldn't help but roll his eyes at her last ditch efforts before following after it, he was in no rush, this match was over so he took his time, only catching the cage right when it was about to hit the ground.

However, Momo had been counting on that as such after having kicked the cage off the roof, she had then grabbed the bucket that had been beside her and chucked it straight down at Taro.

Perhaps throwing a bag of grenades would have better results. However, she didn't need to go that far, plus she did not think such a dangerous weapon would be allowed during a training exercise.

The young man suddenly felt the chill of cold water splash against his body, and simultaneously, the water rained down onto the metal cage.

"Wha–"

Unfortunately he could not get a single word in, as the second the water made contact with the alkali metal that the cage was made off, it unleashed a devastating explosion that blasted Taro back, like a ragdoll being tossed aside.

His body slammed against the wall, breaking through it and being forced back into the building once more. The young man's body did multiple flips as it flew through the room and then came to a stop by crashing onto another wall and dropping to the floor.

*cough* cough*

The young man coughed, having somehow inhaled some smoke. Fortunately, aside from that, he received no damage from the attack

"The fuck was that!!"

He exclaimed in surprise and awe, what had happened was so unexpected that for a second he thought Bakugou had decided to switch teams, in fact he wouldn't put it past the blonde to attack him just so he could be the one to capture the bomb.

Standing back up he dusted himself off and looked at the hole he had made and saw Momo hanging on a grappling gun with a cocky smile on her face.

"Good luck finding our bomb, now"

She said her tone condescending before descending down with her grappling gun and Taro realised that the bomb had been a decoy of her own making, a deliberate and successful attempt making him think he had won.

Now thanks to the time he wasted on her, there was no time to look for the real bomb without risking their own being captured long before them.

"Hahaha!"

He couldn't help but chuckle in pride, In a battle of wits, she certainly has him beat.

"This far from over, Momo"

He said to himself, fully accepting the fact he had been outsmarted but he wasn't defeated.

A lot of people would say brains over brawn, in fact it's almost an expectation to choose being smart over being strong. Give the smartest person the time and they could beat the strongest person without even being close to a tenth of their strength.

However Taro begged to differ, if you have enough brawn and no amount of brain is beating you and if there is, that just means you didn't have enough brawn.

Regardless of how smart you are, enough strength and power can bulldoze through whatever schemes or plans you make and defeat you.

"I'm probably in the lower floors, given how close to the ground I was when I caught the cage so…"

With a swift stomp of his foot, the ground collapsed and he descended down, he did the same to the following floor, then the next, until he reached the bottom and then bulldozed his way through each wall making his way back to the room where Toru should be hiding the bomb.

…..

All Might watched through the screen as the metal cage went off like a bomb and flung Taro straight into the building.

"Young lady Yaoyorozu, has quite the strategic mind on her, if it was anyone else that might have caused serious damage"

He voiced, his tone conveying little outward emotion but he was impressed with her strategy. The girl was certainly someone worth considering. Not only was her quirk extremely practical but she did not seem too shy to use it the best way she knew how. Her only limit was her body and knowledge.

It also seemed that she was quite similar to her brother in a way, Taro was more likely to outright break the rules and not follow them, however Momo, looked to be the type willing to exploit them, using them to secure the advantage in order to win.

"She will make quite the effective hero in the future"

He praised, of course he was aware that her effectiveness will be based on the type of information she has on her opponents and how well she knows them.

Her strategy against Taro only worked because she knows him better than anyone and therefore understood how he would act and thus giving her plenty of time to prepare.

The hero glanced at the other students, already trying to pick out which of the other students could he put her up against in the future for the next exercise.

"Indeed, sir"

Tenya concurred with All Might's assessment on Momo's future effectiveness as a hero. Tenya was quite proud of his quirk, as such he would never dream of changing it, however looking at Momo now he couldn't help but feel a bit envious.

The sheer practicality and usefulness of her quirk displayed itself clearly. in terms of usefulness, it had the greatest potential.

"Her strategic prowess, is certainly something to be admired, after this I wish to have a talk with her regarding this fight"

He voiced his opinion, it was obvious to him that Momo was someone with a keen intellectual mind. As such , it would be worthwhile to talk to her about strategy.

"What was that? Do you have a crush on Momo Iida?"

Mina quickly teased the young man.

"Of course not, I'm simply stating that it would be in my best interest to learn from her, that is all."

Iida denied in earnest as he swung his arm up and down in a chopping motion, the red tinge on his cheeks barely noticeable.

"I don't know man seems like a crush to me"

Denki added a bit of fuel to the fire, causing some of the members to exclaim playfully, going along with the accusations, and the more Iida tried to defend himself the more the flames were fanned.

"Ahem!"

All Might broke the playful atmosphere with a fake cough, forcing the students to quiet down and turn their attention to him.

"While fun and games are fine, I hope you all are watching closely. Iida is correct that you all can stand to gain something from Momo"

He advised, he was fine with them horsing about but it was still class time after all and thus they needed to pay attention.

Although the atmosphere of classmates teasing each other reminded him of the good all days, thinking back to such peaceful days always brought with it the memories of the life he had lived after, the time where he wished to return to the simplicity of a university classroom where the only worry was a Heroic strategy test he had to study for.

After having heard his words, the students quickly took his advice and returned to look at the screens.

They acknowledged that their teacher was correct.

It's worth mentioning that it's barely been fifteen minutes since the exercise started, and with Heroics class specifically being a full hour this meant, they still had plenty of time and extra time later for All Might to give out pointers and advice for each team.

Looking at the screen, All Might considered giving them an assignment, have them write out a review and point out their own mistakes and strategies they could have improved upon.

A/N: Do you guys think it's fair for an fanfic author to write a character they hate to be as hateble as possible not because the characters is actually a bad person but because the author hates them so they'll write them so that the readers will also hate them. is that really fair?
