"She must be crazy!" Chasey's firm voice cut through the silence inside the car.
Lethia heard her clearly, but her mind was a mess, spiralling too fast to find a response.
Her hand absentmindedly caressed her stomach, slow and gentle, while her gaze stayed fixed on the window, eyes watching the blur of the outside world.
Lana's eyes were so full filled with hatred and looked so empty. So blank. Why the hell did they feel like they were screaming for help instead? Was Lana possessed too?
They were cousins after all, wasn't it possible their family had some freakish predisposition to getting snatched by astral spirits?
Wait… come to think of it, with how her mind had been so unusually quiet lately, Lethia couldn't even be sure she was still possessed.
But then again, remembering how her embrace calmed Renar's fever, yeah, that bead must still be lodged somewhere in his body. Now what?
