Chapter 112
Kaela showed up just after noon on the second day of the council. She strode into our quarters with the kind of cool composure that made me wonder if she ever actually slept. Her bow was slung over her back, her sword at her hip, and her expression unreadable as always.
"You're late," I said. "Bran got back hours ago."
She didn't so much as blink. "I waited until Lady Moray was safely guarded. Can't compromise on that at any cost."
Fair. Couldn't fault her for that.
"Alright," she said, stepping further into the room. "What's so urgent?"
I stepped aside and gestured dramatically to our bound and gagged guest on the floor.
Kaela raised an eyebrow, as if she wasn't impressed.
She crouched next to the cultist, poked him once with the tip of her boot, then stood up with a sigh. "This is a problem but I can't say we didn't expect it."
