Chapter 85: Protector Wu – The Advantage is Mine!
Boom!
Yao Lao floated mid air, releasing an aura no weaker than Yun Shan's. Though Xiao Yan had temporarily borrowed his strength before, he hadn't been able to unleash its full potential. Now, this was Yao Lao's true power!
Yun Yun's expression shifted slightly. Lu Bu had mentioned this soul entity to her before, but she hadn't expected him to be this powerful on par with her teacher Yun Shan.
"Xiao Yan actually has a being of this caliber within him?" In the treetops, Mittel Tengshan, Mu Chen, and Nalan Jie were all stunned speechless. Such strength could easily decimate half of the Jia Ma Empire.
However, Nalan Jie's eyes gleamed with a hint of delight. Thankfully, that kid had a good relationship with his granddaughter.
Perhaps… this relationship could still be salvaged!
Mittel Tengshan stroked his chin thoughtfully. He had heard that Lu Bu's alchemy skills had been taught by Xiao Yan's teacher. If his guess was correct, it had to be this soul entity.
However, their relationship didn't seem very close. Hai Bodong had once mentioned that this soul entity had almost fought Lu Bu… Quite a tangled situation.
"Truly strong!" Yun Shan's calm demeanor turned serious. This soul entity must have been far stronger than him during its lifetime, and even now, its combat strength might not be inferior to his own.
Yao Lao's expression was dark. Once again, he had misjudged someone and fallen for Lu Bu's schemes. That bastard had tricked him, stealing his precious soul cultivation technique.
But… if Lu Bu had planned to flee, why had he brought two Dou Huangs to create a show of force? What was his endgame?
As his thoughts churned, Yao Lao's face grew colder. Regardless of Lu Bu's plans, his priority now was to escape Yunlan Mountain with his disciple.
"Are you sure you want to fight?" Yao Lao asked coldly. The Bone Chilling Flame began to rise around him, exuding both searing heat and bone chilling cold, with an unrestrained killing intent.
Yun Shan narrowed his eyes. This opponent was no ordinary foe.
Suspended in the air behind him, Yun Yun hesitated. She had followed Lu Bu's instructions and forced Xiao Yan to reveal his trump card.
What should I do next? Yun Yun thought. Lu Bu's exact words were to fulfill her duty as Yunlan Sect's leader…
So that means standing with my teacher!
But judging by the situation, it didn't seem like she'd be much help…
"Indeed, very strong," Yun Shan acknowledged with a nod, his voice grave. "If possible, I'd rather avoid direct conflict. But… someone wants your soul, so a fight is inevitable."
Yao Lao snorted coldly. Troublesome, but at least the Soul Hall seemed hesitant to act openly. Otherwise, with their bizarre methods, even with his exotic flame as protection, escape would be nearly impossible.
"If that's the case, then let's fight!" Yao Lao's voice was icy as he let out a chilling cry.
Yun Shan's face remained impassive as he prepared to step forward, but just then, a deafening beastly roar echoed from the horizon.
"Awoooo !!"
A massive roar resounded in the sky, accompanied by three powerful auras rushing toward them.
"What… what's that?"
"The Ice Emperor Hai Bodong? Jia Xingtian of the royal family? How did they team up… Wait, what kind of beast is that?"
"That's the national guardian beast, the royal family's Nether Sea Python!"
"It's still alive? Wasn't it critically injured?"
"Being critically injured doesn't mean death there are ways to heal it."
"Wow… This situation keeps getting stranger. First, the former sect leader appeared, then a Dou Zong level soul entity, and now the royal family and the Mittel clan have joined the fray…"
"Jie Jie, this is turning into quite the spectacle!"
"Yeah, but this kind of 'spectacle' doesn't seem safe to watch…" Some onlookers muttered, already considering making a discreet exit.
Back in the Yunlan Sect's rear mountain, crimson eyes glowing in the black mist suddenly sharpened. A chilling and menacing aura erupted from Protector Wu:
"How dare they ruin my plans?!"
Clang, clang, clang…
The sound of clinking iron chains echoed urgently as Protector Wu grew restless. He couldn't afford to let Yao Chen escape!
If he captured Yao Chen, he would undoubtedly earn the elders' favor, gain access to abundant resources, and restore his physical body. Yao Chen's soul was the key to everything!
But for now… it wasn't a problem. Yun Shan was a formidable Dou Zong, and he had Dou Huang disciples and Dou Wang elders assisting him. The advantage was still his!
No rush. He would wait for the right moment and act decisively when Yao Chen tried to flee.
On the plaza, Xiao Yan's face lit up with joy. "That bastard Lu Bu… He finally made a move!"
Yao Lao's expression softened slightly. While he couldn't predict what Lu Bu was plotting, at least he had decided to act.
"Jie Jie Jie, Yun Shan, long time no see!" Hai Bodong laughed heartily as he appeared, his frosty wings shimmering. The mist surrounding him crystallized into ice and fell gently to the ground.
"Hai Bodong? Jia Xingtian?" Yun Shan's eyes narrowed. "What is the meaning of this?"
"We heard you had broken through to Dou Zong and came to challenge you," Jia Xingtian said with a radiant golden glow emanating from him. Beneath him, the Nether Sea Python's blue flames flickered as it licked its lips eagerly. Years of recuperation had left the beast itching for action.
Xiao Yan's expression shifted slightly as he noticed the blue flames. He recognized them they were the same flames the princess had used during the Alchemist Competition. While not as powerful as his Heavenly Flame, they had still been a formidable asset during the tournament.
"Me too!" Hai Bodong said, cupping his hands with a laugh.
"Jia Xingtian, I have important matters to attend to today. This will have to wait," Yun Shan said, his face darkening. He couldn't ignore Protector Wu's request capturing the soul entity was non negotiable.
"I'm afraid that's not possible," Jia Xingtian replied with a smile. "Yun Shan, it's been so long since we've met. Why not spar for old times' sake? Besides, the royal family's Nether Sea Python has just recovered it would be a shame not to test its strength."
"Exactly! I couldn't agree more," Hai Bodong added, laughing. "I've regained my peak strength today. How could I not exchange a few blows with an old friend?"
Yun Shan's brows furrowed. These two were clearly here to cause trouble. Their stance suggested they were allied with the soul entity.
Why hadn't they intervened earlier?
If these two and their beast had acted sooner, Yun Yun wouldn't have had such an easy time earlier.
As his thoughts churned, Yun Shan's expression grew colder. He might not understand everything at play, but he was now facing four enemies.
"So be it. All of you, come at me together!" Yun Shan growled.
"Don't forget me, Hai Bodong!" Yun Yun shouted. Her finger flicked, and her longsword hummed. A gale like sword aura formed, slicing toward Hai Bodong.
Lu Bu had told her to fulfill her duty as Yunlan Sect's leader. Now that her teacher was up against powerful opponents, she needed to share the burden!
"Good! Yun Yun, let's see what you've got!" Hai Bodong laughed, conjuring an icy lance. The lance shimmered as it shot out bursts of freezing air toward Yun Yun's sword aura.
"Come on, Yun Shan!" Jia Xingtian roared with laughter. His golden Dou Qi surged, and the Nether Sea Python unleashed a torrent of blue and golden flames.
"You want to fight? I'll oblige!" Yun Shan's face turned frosty as his hands formed seals.
"Spatial Lock!" he shouted.
The fiery torrent of gold and blue froze mid air as if clutched by an invisible hand, drawing gasps of astonishment from the onlookers.
On the plaza, Xiao Yan's blood boiled with excitement. "Teacher, when do we attack?"
"Attack my foot!" Yao Lao snapped. "While they're fighting, we're running!"
Without waiting for a reply, Yao Lao grabbed Xiao Yan and leapt into the air, speeding away. The old man wasn't foolish he had no intention of getting involved in this chaos.
"Many thanks, my friends! Xiao Yan will remember this favor and repay it tenfold in the future!" Xiao Yan shouted gratefully as he cupped his hands toward Hai Bodong and Jia Xingtian.
But just then, Yao Lao froze mid air. In the white mist shrouding Yunlan Sect's main peak, a faint streak of pitch black mist suddenly appeared, exuding a deep, eerie aura.
"Teacher?"
"There's an enemy," Yao Lao said grimly, his expression darkening. That foul, familiar stench it could only belong to the Soul Hall.
Before he could say more, a sharp, ghostly laugh pierced the air, chilling to the bone:
"Jie Jie Jie Jie Jie… Yao Chen, you won't escape today!"
The clash of chains rang out as the white mist turned pitch black. From within the darkness, a pair of blood red eyes gleamed menacingly.
"Damn it… He's here after all," Yao Lao muttered, his face darkening further.
