"Parker." Shen He shook his head somewhat helplessly, "You and the Zhenbo women are different. They have no family members. This is their home. Or do you plan to abandon your family and school and move here to train and act with them every day?"
Parker was stopped by this question.
He had never thought about this problem, because the Guardians were only dispatched at night, so he felt that he should have no problem.
However, his home is in Queens.
The Guardians operate out of Manhattan, and he still needs to go to school—and hide everything from Aunt May and Uncle Ben.
"You understand?" Shen He sensed Parker had already considered it thoroughly. "If you join the Guardians, you won't be able to become a full-time hero like the Zhenbo Women and the others. You can only work part-time, and you won't even have the time to receive formal training. So the nature of your involvement will be different. We won't assign you dangerous tasks. It's very likely you'll be asked to stop a purse snatcher—or even help an old woman cross the street."
"Although this is also helping others, it may be different from what you envision."
This was something Shen He had long since thought through.
Compared to joining the Guardian team, it was more realistic for Parker to continue being the neighborhood Spider-Man.
"Part-time…Can the Guardians work part-time?"
Parker had no idea Shen He would make such a suggestion.
The best outcome he had anticipated was joining the Guardians, then following Captain America every night.
"Of course." Shen He shrugged. "The Guardian Corps is just a job. Honestly, aside from Captain America, most of the others can't even be called heroes yet—but I look forward to their growth… and to yours. I can already see you'll grow into an amazing person."
"Mr. Shen, I…"
Parker opened his mouth, but didn't know what to say—he only felt a surge of excitement.
It was the first time he'd been affirmed like this—and by such a "big man" at that.
"Let's do it like this." Shen He seemed to have made up his mind. "I'll assign someone to connect with you, get your uniform and codename ready. You can focus on interning for now. Once you return, how about being a part-time Guardian—using your spare time to receive training and take on tasks?"
"Thank you very much."
What else could Parker say? He was overjoyed.
When he'd been reminded of his studies and family, he had already given up on joining the Guardians.
But he didn't expect Shen He would actually make an exception for him.
Even though his grades were good, he had never received such attention and recognition.
"Go home and get some rest. Your first task is to adjust during this internship period." Shen He patted him on the shoulder.
"Yes, I'll definitely work hard." Parker stood up, barely suppressing his excitement. Suddenly, when he reached the door, he turned his head and asked, "May I be considered a Guardian?"
"Of course." Shen He smiled and nodded, "A part-time Guardian is still a Guardian. Once we finalize your codename, we'll announce it on the official site."
"Thank you so much!"
After Parker suppressed his excitement and walked out of the house, he couldn't help but leap three feet high.
Shen He touched his chin and suddenly felt like he was taking care of his cousin.
But unlike that arrogant Tony, whether from an omniscient perspective or through personal contact, Spider-Man was genuinely a good kid. He just needed the right training—so his wings wouldn't flap off course and derail his path of growth.
After assigning a reliable agent as Spider-Man's dedicated liaison, there was nothing pressing that Shen He needed to worry about for the moment.
His life had settled into a predictable rhythm—home, office, and the copy world.
Next, he only needed to deal with the Demon Forbidden Dungeon before Loki entered the battlefield—but that was easier said than done.
It was a high-difficulty copy world that exceeded even a follower's average training level.
With Lelouch's growing army in the escalating war, the faction known to the public as the Chaldeans was becoming increasingly visible, and the hidden coordinates of the Misaka Sisters had been fully exposed. This put immense pressure on Shen He and the others. Fortunately, there was still Misaka Mikoto Alter, who diverted much of the enemy's firepower.
However, based on the recent battles, even Misaka Mikoto Alter had been forced into a constant state of suppression.
"It's completely messed up."
At their temporary base in Academy City, Shen He sat frowning, reviewing battle reports delivered by Lelouch's forces.
He didn't know how to bring the war to an end. Normally, when one side is completely crushed, the war ends—but even that wouldn't bring safety to the Misaka Sisters.
Whether Academy City triumphed or the Right Seat of God won, the Misaka Sisters would still be caught as the weak, disposable ones.
"Master." Qi Mu Nanxiong's voice sounded in Shen He's mind. "You'll gain a total of 150 summoning stones within the day."
"Got it." Shen He mentally replied. "If I use one more basic delay card, I can reach one hundred and fifty today. There might even be new copies appearing. Honestly, I'd prefer to just solve everything through overwhelming force using advanced enhancement cards."
During this period, Shen He had focused heavily on upgrading Qi Mu Nanxiong.
Based on his estimations, Joan of Arc's full heroic state should rank between power level 50 to 60, while Qi Mu Nanxiong's baseline power should be between 80 and 90. Beyond that would mean surpassing their historical peak.
Currently, Qi Mu Nanxiong was at level 27. With the use of a single high-grade enhancement card, he could immediately jump to level 87.
This meant Shen He had a one-hour window to activate [Qi God · Complete Posture].
"But there's only one advanced enhancement card," Qi Mu Nanxiong said calmly. "And only one hour of usage. If it isn't timed perfectly, it's basically wasted."
Although his original power was immense, it was also difficult to control, and the consequences of failure were unpredictable.
"I know." Shen He sighed.
There was only one trump card. Once played, it was gone. The king should be saved for the final move.
"Boom–!"
Suddenly, a violent explosion rocked the entire base.
Had they been attacked?
Shen He froze for a moment, immediately rushing out while establishing a summoning channel for all followers—the team had been temporarily scattered.
But he quickly realized this wasn't an enemy attack.
Instead, what had caused the disturbance was Accelerator, Touma Kamijou, Kanzaki Kaori, and Stiyl—who had entered while physically restraining one another. Jeanne had activated her Noble Phantasm to block collateral damage.
What kind of situation was this? Were the followers fighting among themselves?
"What happened?"
Shen He's expression turned grim.
No matter how strong the enemy, he wouldn't flinch—but internal issues among his closest companions? That was unacceptable.
"This is the best chance to kill that woman!" Accelerator snarled, his killing intent unconcealed. Shen He followed his gaze—and was stunned.
Misaka Mikoto Alter?
Though her clothing was tattered, her body riddled with wounds and bleeding heavily, her identity was unmistakable.
In her palm, she tightly clutched a doll—its original color no longer discernible.
Misaka Mikoto stepped forward to block Shen He's line of sight, shielding Misaka Mikoto Alter behind her and said nervously:
"She… she's badly injured. She's no longer a threat."
With just that sentence, Shen He understood what had happened.
During a mission, Misaka Mikoto had found and brought back the severely wounded Misaka Mikoto Alter.
