Chapter 131 - chapter 130

"how about we leave now!" Hou disregarded his question to Mo Huai.

He stood up and slapped his knees,

"Let's go then, just follow me"

Mo Huai walked to the door then stopped just in front. He patted his robe then grabbed something from an inner pocket.

It was a small ring of keys, he swung it about and grabbed one specific key. He placed it into the door and turned it.

As he did Hou watched over and furrowed his brows,

'Shouldn't we leave the room before locking it? Did we even need to lock it, I don't recognise that key?'

Before Hou could question Mo Huai himself, he opened the door. Instead of the inside of the Dragon's Den inn, there was a cave!

"Huan Die?!" Hou could only think of the other time he walked into a door and found a cave.

"Exactly, you saw how we walked out of a seemingly random house and went from the centre to the outside areas of Freedom Haven?"

Hou nodded and he followed Mo Huai into the cave. Mo Huai took the token they were given to room six and there it through the door, the he shut it behind then.

The cave became dark again after closing the door, Mo Huai turned around and started to walk forward again. He continued explaining,

"Her home is connected with every door, that's the short way to explain it. So we'll use her to get to the inheritance quickly,"

Suddenly, light turned on, all around the cave walls beside Mo Huai and Hou,

"Use me?!"

Huan Die stood at the other end, crossing her arms. She shook her head and turned out if view. Mo Huai turned his head to face Hou,

"We'll politely ask them,"

Hou chucked and he, too, shook his head. The two walked through the cave corridor and turned to the same direction the saw Huan Die move.

They found themselves in a different room than before, this one seemed to be a sort of meeting room. It was a beautiful wooden floored room and furnitured with one large table. The table had a few tables set around it, at the head Huan Die sat while staring at Mo Huai.

"So what do you mean 'use me'?" She put on a smile

Mo Huai undid his disguise and threw his hair crown back to Huan Die. His hair turned purple and glowing, while his face became more refined and older. His cloak became a shade of white with deep purple details.

Hou saw this and took off his ring too, the disguise fading. His hair growing longer and turning brown to pink. His robes turned from a dirty blue into a shining white with golden details.

"I misspoke, I just meant that before we could go to Sect Master Hou needs to do his next inheritance. He's still doing his direct disciple coming of age ceremony,"

Huan Die squinted, then slammed her hand on the table in front of her,

"Bah, I guess I can help. Which one is it?"

"The fourth"

"Ah, let's see what happens here then hehe" Huan Die pointed behind Hou and rested her head on her hand,

"Just there boy,"

Hou turned around and suddenly there was a door standing behind him. It wasn't attached to anything, just a door in the middle of the floor.

He looked towards Mo Huai, who gave him a nod. Hou took a breath and opened the door, finding a small underground cave. But not like Huan Die's.

Instead of a dark cold cave it was a bright warm cave, full with life. The walls were covered in moss and it had a dirt floor with grass and plants spreading forth.

"Step through" Mo Huai gently pushed Hou forward. He then continued,

"I'll be waiting here, you'll know what to do when you see it, go out,"

Hou nodded then pushed himself through the door, stepping into the luscious cave. He closed the door behind him then turned around.

He took a breath of the cave air, refreshing and clean. He walked through the cave, it seemed small but the more he moved through, the more he saw. He saw the extent of the cave, various smaller rooms connected together.

Time blurred as he travelled through the cave. For hours, he trekked he through the endless greenery and kept pushing forward. The cave stretched farther with every step, the walls breathing like living flesh. Moss shimmered with a faint glow, pulsing in time with his heartbeat.

As he was going through each of the cave rooms, his mind was in a suspended state, like in a trance. He was fully conscious but at the same time his thoughts did not deviate. Then finally, as he kept moving through the cave rooms, he saw what he assumed was what he needed, the inheritance.

'Is that...'

Hou looked up, a large stone temple. It had a set of stairs, going up into a temple. A storm pyramid within a larger cave.

Moss covered it but still one could see the majesty and power. Just standing there, Hou could his feel his consciousness was being repressed.

He climbed the first step, and his consciousness was attacked. He felt a strong searing pain, he took another step. Another one. Another one.

Hou stepped up the steps, each one repressing his whole consciousness more and more. By the time he reached the top, he struggled to stay conscious.

At the top, he crawled to see a large table. And Hou did not know why, but he felt like he should lay on it. He pushed himself above the table and laid down above. Then, his consciousness was fully restricted.

He could barely think, and he saw something moved in the corner of his eyes. A phantom of a man stood the the side. It held a large blade, and it swing down.

The blade swing down, the air being cut. Then finally, it almost sliced through Hou's neck when the inheritance started. In that moment before his death, Hou felt everything.

Just like the other inheritances, he felt the experiences of others. Not the good parts as before, but all the bad!
