I didn't even realize I was still shaking until I reached the hall outside the chamber.

The air was cool, but it wasn't enough to douse the burn in my chest.

Geena's voice still echoed in my ears.

What right does she have to speak about my mother?

Always clinging to Orion, taking someone else's place.

No wonder Celeste left. Even I can't stand her.

I didn't know how to feel—if I even had room to feel anything right now. Not when the Oracle's words still haunted me.

I didn't stop walking until I reached Damon's floor. I knocked softly, waiting until I heard him grunt a "come in" before stepping inside.

He was exactly where I expected—shirtless, sitting on the edge of his bed, elbows on his knees, running a hand through his dark hair like he was trying to scrub a thought out of his brain. A half-finished bottle sat on the nightstand, untouched for a while now. His gun lay on the floor, unloaded.

He looked up the second I entered.
