Chapter 18 - Second Attempt

She really called me out on my past..., Robert thought as he took his wand.

Robert was walking through streets as he was trying to remember the looks of the men; one had brown hair, and the other had red hair. Both were wearing brown coats and had cheap wands.

And what is an order of exception? I will ask that of Lunaris if we meet again...wait, why am I relying on her?

Robert got out of his apartment, avoiding Owen as he walked on the cold streets, slowly making his way from the wide roads of the main city to the crooked streets of the area where small gangs operated and people partied in the taverns, but for today the streets were all empty. Robert figured out that the street near the 4th den docks was made intentionally empty because the area was owned by the Topez family, under which many of the taverns, restaurants, and docks came.

Robert walked through the empty roads and reached the docks, but this time, after the big, bulky man dropped the box on the port, Robert waited for a moment instead of taking it. He waited behind the wall for a moment for those two attackers to come.

...

Arthur and Matthew were walking through an empty street. Matthew was holding a city map and was giving directions.

"One more left, and we will reach the stop, but why is this port so empty?" Matthew said as he was walking while holding and looking at the map of Den Docks.

Arthur looked around and replied, "Lucius informed me that one of the family here owns this dock, and they have emptied it."

Matthew smirked and mocked Arthur, "If an invader came, I'd use you as bait, hah!"

Arthur smirked and replied, "As if you're strong enough to face an intruder; you're just good with screws and gears."

"Oh, shut up." Matthew elbowed Arthur.

Soon after they reached the docks, Arthur noticed the ship departing, and a single box was lying on the platform.

Arthur took out his wand and tugged Matthew's corner of the sleeve to instruct him to take out his wand too, and Matthew complied.

Soon both men started making their way to the open space; it was an open square.

...

Robert made his way to a series of public staircases that led to a public balcony that had a direct view of the port and the area where the box was sitting. He saw the two tall men approaching the box.

Robert quickly took out his wand and chanted, 'Aere.' Suddenly, a small magic circle with intricate patterns emerged at the tip of the wand, and a red and white line with a complex DNA-type design appeared as it connected with the box.

He pulled the box towards him with a jerk of his hands backwards. As the box came towards him flying, he quickly caught it, but a box disappearing from the sight of two men made them suspicious as the box flew from their eyes.

They both gasp and look at the rooftop, as they only saw the face of Robert when he departed.

Robert quickly started running, but not like before; instead he opted for narrow streets and quickly made his way. Robert had a small map of the city in his drawer, from where he got to know about the street layout that connected Cecil Manor and the 4th Den dock.

He quickly made his way towards the Cecil manor and shoved the box towards the guard at the gate. "From the Topez family."

The Guard, a middle-aged man with whitening hair and soon to be bald, looked at the box and nodded as he received it.

The man cleared his throat and said, "I was informed about this order; it will be delivered, and your order delivery will be notified to both parties."

Robert nodded as the guard told him to go away; as he was walking through the streets, he saw the two men looking for him as he saw the man with red hair notice him and quickly notify the man beside him, and then they both started running towards him.

Robert started running through the road, and then he quickly turned in the direction where the Austich Trading Co. was located.

The men were far away, and their spells quite didn't reach Robert. As Robert rushed in one street, he felt heat near the wall and gasped as he stopped right in his tracks and cast Protecto without chanting it, and a semi-transparent semi-sphere formed around him.

Matthew and Arthur also stopped and both fired, "Bombardo!"

Two loud fires came towards Robert as his protector protected him, and then both stopped. Matthew said, "Man, I am not the one to fight strangers; you're not my enemy. Just tell us where the box is, and we will be done."

Robert panted as his chest was heaving up and down slightly and then said calmly, "I have left the box on the Austich Trading Co."

Arthur and Matthew looked at each other and nodded, then Arthur looked at Robert and said, "Here is what is going to happen, you are going with us as a hostage... Mathhew here is going to point his wand directly at you as you lead us to the box; do we understand each other?"

Robert nodded and said, "Pleasure doing business with you..."

...

Robert walked through as both Robert and Matthew were standing behind him, while Matthew was directly pointing his wand towards them and Arthur eyed Robert's movement like a hawk as they walked slowly; soon they were walking through the street that was more bustling than the 4th den dock.

People were talking with each other , as the people were sitting on the corner of streets and selling stuff in their stalls; many galleons were docking in the port, and many were departing as he saw that merchants were carrying crates.

Many buildings were in line with different fancy designs with the signboards of trading companies.

Robert examined the road and saw a building with sculpted text written on it's walls as 'Austich Trading Co'

Robert quickly pointed at the 'Austich Trading Co.' building as they went towards its direction.

"This is where you have given the box?" Matthew asked.

"Yes, I just have to go in the building and ask them to get the box back..." Robert muttered slowly.

Arthur nods and pats Matthew's shoulders as they go through the road and push through crowd, getting nasty looks from the passers.

As they both got inside the building, Robert looked back at the wand being pointed at him and looked at Matthew and Arthur. "I will now go towards the counter and ask them to bring the box; do you comply?"

"Yes"

"Very well."

Robert always kept the note in his pocket, which Raven gave him; he walked towards the counter and saw the clerk there. The man was wearing a black hat and suit pants.

"May I help you, sir?" He asked

Robert looked around and passed the note towards him. As the clerk received the note, he opened the crumpled paper and saw the secret code in it. He then quickly looked at Robert and nodded.

"I am going to ask you to come with me, Mister Robert Smith." The clerk asked as he got out of his counter.

Arthur barked, "Where are you taking that man?"

The clerk looked back; adjusting his hat, he said, "This gentleman will be back in a minute."

The clerk took Robert behind the counter and then opened the door behind it. The door was secret; it had the same colour and texture as the well, and they vanished inside the door.
