Chapter 47 - Eyes in the Crowd

The evening sky glowed golden, like it too was celebrating the grandeur of the Grand Harvest Festival, a once-in-a-decade event held in the southeastern lands ruled by Duke Elias Mason. Vibrant flags fluttered along the main road, which the townsfolk had been prepping for days. Garlands made from wheat stalks and wildflowers swayed above, symbolizing the blessings of the fertile land. From afar, folksy music danced on the breeze, played by village musicians perched on handmade wooden stages, their tunes adding a cheerful rhythm that echoed through every corner of the town.

Kids dashed through the crowd, their giggles mixing with the festival's lively clamor. They wore adorable costumes, goddesses of harvest, muddy field-plowing oxen, even oversized corn stalks and bundles of rice. Some chased each other with fruit- and veggie-shaped balloons, their laughter bursting like bubbles in the packed town square.
