Lying on the sofa, Alain focused all his senses on hearing, listening intently for any possible sounds around him. Just as expected... no footsteps from Crazy Mita. She must have really gone to get the IOU Alain mentioned.
"Quick, let's go! Good thing my acting skills are decent!" He hurriedly got up. A worried voice came from the direction of the bathroom.
"Bro!" He glanced sideways and saw a hat running towards him. Upon reaching him, Millie anxiously supported him with both hands. "Are you okay?! I didn't expect... you got seriously injured so quickly! You scared me to death!"
"..." Alain observed Millie's twitching eyelids, yet not a single tear managed to fall.
"Hah." He sneered softly, gently pushing the girl's face away. "Stop pretending. You knew I was acting all along, didn't you? We need to leave quickly now." He released the hand covering the "wound" on his chest. Picking up the pen he had taken from Crazy Mita's bathroom earlier, he wrote on the sofa.
Millie noticed that his chest, which should have had a large chunk missing, was completely unharmed. Only his shirt bore the deep dampness from Crazy Mita's tears.
Millie let out a sigh of relief, patting her chest. The look of lingering fear lasted only an instant before being replaced by a beaming smile. "Wow, Bro! You came back from the dead?" Millie still acted like she knew nothing, gently patting Alain's shoulder, only to receive a light knock on the head in return.
"Forget about that, let's hurry to the bathroom!"
"Okay~" The worry on her face vanished as if nothing had happened. Yet she remained curious about how Alain had actually avoided injury that time.
"How's Misha?" Alain finished writing and stood up.
"She's still unconscious, but her body should be fine. Probably waking up soon."
"That's good then." He breathed a sigh of relief, took the girl's large-gloved hand, and quickly walked towards the bathroom.
Earlier, the moment he saw the spider lunging at Crazy Mita, he knew the most efficient way home had presented itself. Thus, he ran towards the 'bad girl' at top speed, helping her block the attack. He received an excessive reward of her tear-streaked face, along with a passionate kiss, and an unexpected bonus—a lap pillow. The 'bad girl's' thighs were truly soft. Even now, Alain found it unforgettable. Definitely need to do that again next time...
As for how he blocked the attack—that was naturally [Safety Protection].
At this moment, the young man's shoulder safely passed the empty doorframe. He glanced back one last time at the ruined living room. Good, the bad girl isn't back yet. Must hurry.
He hadn't used Safety Protection even once since entering the game until now. With this powerful shield, he successfully "protected" Crazy Mita, reaping a series of intimate moments and gaining an opportunity to ease the somewhat stiff relationship between them.
During the previous fight, Crazy Mita should have calmed down slightly, realized her impulsiveness, even her attacking pace had slowed considerably. But in that atmosphere, neither of them spoke up. After all, in a "couple's" quarrel, whoever speaks first loses; this dynamic seemed ingrained between him and the 'bad girl'.
His "severe injury" completely shattered this stalemate, allowing Alain to properly explain his intention for going to the Core and attempt to extract information about it from Crazy Mita.
Alain opened the bathroom door and noticed Misha lying limply on the floor. "Really now... you didn't even find a backrest for my dear? What if she got hurt?"
"Eh? Eh eh?! Why am I getting blamed for something like this!" Ignoring Millie's complaints, his thoughts drifted to the results of the "information extraction." Seemingly fruitless, but actually... quite a bit of intel was gained.
Firstly, Crazy Mita didn't particularly care about the Core. This meant methods like resetting, which Misha mentioned, were likely ineffective or had limited effect on her. Perhaps... the Core held no real constraint over her.
Secondly, whatever was happening at the Core was something even Crazy Mita—the strongest Mita Alain knew currently—couldn't completely eradicate even if she went all out. She herself might even die trying. For this reason, Alain would absolutely not let his cute 'bad girl' go to her death.
He released Millie's hand, instead lifting the girl lying sideways on the floor in a princess carry. "Alain..." She seemed to sense the familiar warmth. As soon as Alain picked her up, Misha's eyebrows twitched, and her eyes fluttered open slightly. "My dear..." She rested against his chest. "Sorry... seems like a lot happened to you, and I couldn't help..."
"No, you helped me a lot. By the way, weren't you unconscious? How did you know a lot happened?"
"Mmm..." She made a couple of baby-like sounds, her nose nudging his shirt. "Because... you smell strongly... of another woman."
Is this some kind of unique female instinct?!
The girl in his arms rubbed her face contentedly against his shirt again. "So tired, want kisses..."
"Alright, alright, kisses when we get home." Alain stepped onto the light of the returning portal. He noticed Millie still looking at her gloves, as if savoring the memory. "Don't look, I'll help you take them off when we get home."
The girl stared blankly at him for a moment, only realizing belatedly what Alain meant. "Hey! Bro, you can't do things like that!" she said, yet obediently stood within the teleportation light.
Limited by the small space, Alain put Misha down, letting her lean against his shoulder. His other arm held Millie, her hatted head resting on his chest.
"..." Alain could feel Millie's body stiffen the moment his arm went around her shoulder.
"Are you that nervous? You're the one who can casually wield a 'Purple Mood' like a dagger and spout lines like 'take off something else' mmmph mmmph..."
"Wah! Don't talk nonsense! Can't anything good come out of your dog mouth?!" (Lit: Can't ivory come from a dog's mouth?!)
"...Who are you calling a dog mouth?"
"Shh shh shh..." Misha sighed from the side. "Our little home is going to get lively, it seems."
The three gradually faded within the teleportation light, transforming into long, narrow lines of code, piercing the ceiling and drifting towards the endless darkness beyond.
Hat Mita—now Millie's—previously noisy room instantly fell silent.
A moment later, however, a girl suddenly appeared in the living room area.
"Alain! I brought it!" In her hand was a piece of paper with an IOU written on it.
"?" But upon entering, the excessive quietness of the room puzzled her. The girl first looked towards the sofa. "Eh? Where's Alain?!"
A suspicion arose, yet she found it hard to believe: the deceased Alain had disappeared. He sent her away so she wouldn't be sad. An overwhelming sense of despair nearly made her collapse.
Until she saw the writing on the sofa. Only then did the girl's mood ease. "Pfft... what an idiot. He didn't need to do anything, just letting me wallow in anxiety would have been fine." She caressed the strokes Alain had written, humming an unknown tune.
"Darling, darling, darling~"
She gave one last look at the empty room, her gaze lingering on the sofa—his final trace.
"I like you even more now~" The next second, she vanished without a trace. Leaving only a few simple words on the leather sofa material:
[See you next time. My Honey]
