The battlefield was eerily silent, save for the faint hum of tension hanging in the air. The sudden restoration of Hashirama and Tobirama's consciousness had shifted the dynamics entirely, but it was Tobirama's icy glare that now dominated the scene.
Danzo Shimura, who had been caught in Tobirama's piercing gaze, turned ashen, his face drenched in cold sweat.
"Tea… Teacher…" Danzo stammered, his voice trembling.
Tobirama turned to him, his tone colder than ice.
"Wretched disciple! How dare you call me teacher? I must have been blind to ever take someone like you as my student!"
Though spoken softly, Tobirama's words carried enough weight for everyone on the battlefield to hear. Instantly, the shinobi of Konoha realized the gravity of Danzo's transgressions. To desecrate the First Hokage and Second Hokage—figures revered as gods among the villagers—was an unforgivable act. Those who had already harbored resentment toward Danzo now viewed him with outright disdain.
Even Hiruzen Sarutobi, still sprawled on the ground, felt a flicker of satisfaction. The man who had constantly meddled in his affairs had finally dug his own grave. With this scandal, Danzo's reputation in Konoha would be irreparably tarnished. It would only be a matter of time before Hiruzen could strip Danzo of his Root organization's power, ensuring he would never rise again.
Realizing this, Hiruzen quickly seized the opportunity to demonstrate his loyalty, raising his head and shouting dramatically:
"Danzo! How could you commit such a heinous crime! You are nothing but a traitor to Konoha! First Hokage-sama! Teacher! I failed to notice Danzo's treachery as Hokage—it is my oversight…"
While Hiruzen's tearful display of loyalty played out, Danzo, gripped by sheer panic, made the worst possible decision.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere!"
In his desperation, Danzo inexplicably formed hand seals and launched a Vacuum Sphere directly at Tobirama. The compressed air bullets shot toward Tobirama, who simply sidestepped them with ease.
Danzo's eyes widened in horror as he realized what he had just done.
From the sidelines, Madara Uchiha observed silently, his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan glowing faintly. His expression remained impassive—he had merely been watching the drama unfold. Any suggestion that he had used genjutsu to influence Danzo's erratic behavior was pure speculation, of course.
Meanwhile, completely unaware of Madara's subtle interference, Tobirama's fury reached new heights. Not only had this traitorous disciple attempted to control him, but now he dared to attack him outright!
Tobirama's eyes grew colder, his voice laced with venom.
"Very well, Danzo. Initially, I considered sparing your life, but now you leave me no choice. You've forced my hand—I must cleanse this disgrace from our ranks!"
Danzo plunged into a pit of despair, his mind racing. Without hesitation, he turned and fled, barking orders to his Root operatives as he ran.
"Stop him at all costs! Block him!"
The Root members moved mechanically, their faces devoid of emotion as they positioned themselves between Tobirama and Danzo. They acted like soulless machines, carrying out their master's commands without regard for the fact that Tobirama was once their Hokage.
Tobirama paused momentarily, surprised that these Root operatives would dare obstruct him. His anger flared even hotter. Standing still, his body suddenly vanished, leaving the Root members disoriented.
In the blink of an eye, Tobirama reappeared behind the fleeing Danzo. With a swift motion, he grabbed the back of Danzo's neck and slammed him to the ground with overwhelming force.
Danzo froze in terror, his voice trembling.
"Flying Thunder God Technique!?"
"That's right, Danzo," Tobirama said coldly. "Did you forget about my signature technique? During the Great Ninja Wars, I marked all my students with Flying Thunder God seals to ensure I could instantly teleport to protect you. Ironically, the very seal I used to safeguard you has now become the tool to capture you."
Danzo's face turned ashen as he struggled desperately, pleading for mercy.
"Teacher! This was a moment of madness! Please forgive me this once! I am your student!"
"Forgive you…" Tobirama hesitated briefly. Despite everything, Danzo's emotional appeal tugged at some lingering sense of attachment—he had, after all, been Tobirama's disciple.
On the ground, Hiruzen caught himself just in time. He had been about to urge Tobirama not to hesitate and eliminate Danzo but realized the implications of doing so. As Danzo's fellow disciple, speaking up now would cast suspicion on him as someone willing to harm his own comrades. Instead, he clenched his fists in frustration, unable to intervene.
To his relief, Tsunade stepped in, shouting loudly:
"Grandfather! You can't let him go! Danzo is a blight on Konoha! He cares only for himself and has no regard for the village! Look at how unscathed his Root operatives are compared to the heavy losses we've suffered fighting Madara!"
Hiruzen inwardly cheered. Tobirama's fury erupted anew, while Danzo's heart sank in despair.
"So," Tobirama growled, "you've truly sunk this low, Danzo. It seems there's no other option—I must end this now."
Danzo's mind spiraled into hopelessness.
From the sidelines, Madara frowned. He wasn't about to let Tobirama kill Danzo just yet—the meddling fool still had a role to play. Subtly, Madara activated the genjutsu embedded in Danzo's mind, its effects beginning to manifest.
As Tobirama raised a kunai, poised to strike Danzo's heart, the latter suddenly screamed frantically:
"Tobirama! If you kill me, every single Root operative will die!"
Tobirama froze mid-strike, his icy demeanor unwavering.
"What did you say?" he demanded sharply.
