Chapter 96 - A New Storm Has Arrived! The Alchemy Commission Faces Dan Shu!

"Alright, everyone, welcome to Guinaifen's livestream!"

"A new storm has appeared—how can we stop now?"

"Let's follow the Trailblazers' perspective and head to the Alchemy Commission!"

Guinaifen excitedly narrated in her stream.

The Alchemy Commission was a coastal paradise, a place Guinaifen had long heard about but never had the chance to visit.

Now, through the game, she could finally witness its scenery firsthand.

Her mood was fantastic.

The moment she entered the map, she could hear waves crashing and seagulls crying.

Closing her eyes, she could almost smell the fresh ocean air.

But as Guinaifen continued exploring—

A corpse suddenly appeared on the ground.

Yes.

Out of nowhere, a Mara-struck corpse lay right in front of her.

Moving forward, she found more bodies—some sprawled on steps, others slumped against walls.

"Uh… what?"

"Who's so rude as to leave corpses lying around?!"

Her tourist mindset instantly shattered.

This wasn't a sightseeing trip—it was a main story mission!

Guinaifen reminded herself:

In the previous plot, the Luofu Cloud Knights had clashed directly with the Sanctus Medicus.

And it seemed the main battlefield was right here in the Alchemy Commission.

"So many Cloud Knights have fallen..."

"The devastation shown in-game is probably only a tenth of reality."

"Thankfully, this game exposed the dangers on the Luofu early, letting the Cloud Knights strike first. Otherwise, this scene would've been real!"

"Bless the developer, Yu Ling!"

"This game isn't just entertainment—it might bring peace to the universe!"

"Okay, maybe that's exaggerating a bit, but still!"

Just as the Trailblazers were marveling at the scale of the battle—

Tingyun remarked, "Honestly, this isn't even that big of a scene."

"Centuries ago, an Emanator of [Abundance] invaded the Luofu to seize the Ambrosial Arbor, nearly destroying half the Xianhouz and slaughtering the Cloud Knights to near extinction."

"For long-life species, that's not even history—it's practically yesterday. Compared to that, this is nothing."

Guinaifen couldn't help but comment: "Tingyun's nerves are steel. She's still smiling despite all these corpses—even March can't crack a joke now."

(T/N: Tingyun as in Guinaifen's ingame team)

The battlefield was chaotic—panicked Cloud Knights, captured fanatics—

The situation wasn't optimistic.

The Sanctus Medicus had used some dark art to disrupt minds, even accelerating Mara-struck transformations.

When Fu Xuan returned, she reported the enemy's movements.

Deep within the Alchemy Commission, the cult had erected massive alchemical furnaces.

Their fumes could rapidly induce Mara in long-life species.

Destroying these furnaces was critical.

"Alright, looks like we're the special forces again," Guinaifen muttered, already used to this role.

After several battles and shutting down three smaller furnaces—

It was time to storm the [True Alchemy Chamber] and face the cult's leader!

"Hah… so it's come to this."

Dan Shu, the mastermind, stood before a massive furnace.

"No matter. What was destined has arrived."

Welt, March 7th, Stelle, Tingyun, and Fu Xuan stepped forward.

"Dan Shu… we meet again."

Guinaifen greeted her.

During a previous side quest, Dan Shu had left a deep impression—

A doctor who healed the sick, helped young girls with similar afflictions…

Yet she was also the leader of the Sanctus Medicus.

A traitor who had ignited this massive conflict.

"Once, the Ambrosial Arbor's roots enveloped the Luofu like a living thing—unstoppable. All could ascend to immortality, shapeshift freely. The Abundance's miracles blessed all Xianzhous—what a glorious era..."

Dan Shu sighed mournfully.

"And now? Look what Xianzhou has become! Enslaved by the Reignbow, slaughtering the faithful. The Ten-Lords Commission even forces us to abandon longevity..."

"How pitiable. I don't blame your ignorance. We weren't born in the Arbor's golden age. But now… we still have a chance to—"

Fu Xuan cut in: "I expected grand rhetoric, but this is just the same old drivel about forsaking humanity for power."

"Our ancestors fought alongside the Reignbow Arbiter, felled the Arbor, and established the Ten-Lords to define life and death—so we could live as humans again."

"Immortals? There are no immortals on the Xianzhou. Your so-called 'miracles' are just monstrous acts!"

[Chat]

"Fu Xuan spitting facts!"

"Dan Shu, you won't escape this time!"

"Trading lives for immortality? Pathetic!"

"Hype! Someone play Wildfire!"

"For the Reignbow!"

"Time to end this!"

...

Guinaifen's expression turned serious.

It was time for battle.

The [Sanctus Medicus Leader] was a new enemy type in this update.

Unfamiliar with her skills, Guinaifen played it safe—

Bringing March 7th and Natasha for survival, Tingyun for support, and Jing Yuan as the sole DPS.

A classic three-support-one strategy.

And it worked.

The boss had Physical, Ice, and Lightning weaknesses—perfect for this team.

March's shields and Natasha's cleanse handled the enemy's Wind Shear debuffs.

After a grueling ten-minute fight—

The boss was down to 2% HP.

The team's health had yo-yoed, but everyone survived.

Now, just one final strike from Jing Yuan—

And the cult leader would fall.

"Take this, Dan Shu!"

Guinaifen mimed a downward slash, as if she were controlling the attack herself.

"Boom!!!"

"The Sanctus Medicus leader—I've defeated her!"

Her cheeks flushed with excitement.

Who said turn-based games lacked immersion?!

But—

The battle wasn't over.

Dan Shu, barely clinging to life, gasped:

"Why… why? She promised…"

"The Arbor's return… would grant us immortal bodies..."

"The one who gave us the Stellaron… lied…?"

Guinaifen's excitement vanished.

She focused on Dan Shu's every word.

The dying woman was revealing shocking secrets.

"The… Phantylia… the Denizens… we did our part..."

"The Emanator of Destruction… must honor the deal… Now!"

Dan Shu's gaze shifted—

To someone standing behind the Trailblazers.

Someone who had been silently observing the entire battle.

"Sigh… Must I intervene personally?"

A familiar voice spoke—light, almost amused.

Guinaifen's jaw dropped.

She couldn't believe her eyes.

And in the livestream chat—

"????????"

Flooded the screen.
