Ten years ago, Akio had inadvertently saved Uchiha Kagami, who was about to jump off a cliff. Two years ago, Kagami succeeded as the new head of the Uchiha clan. Under his leadership, the Uchiha had already begun to changeā¦
"With things going this way, it feels like the Uchiha might never reach the point of clan extermination. That's a good thing, of courseā¦ but what about my plot witness pointā¦"
Akio's original plan was to find a way to save the Uchiha in the future, earning a major witness point for drastically altering the plot. But now, it had turned into an indirect rescueāmeaning that witness point was gone.
"And there's something even more troublesomeā¦" Akio sighed.
Because Tobirama hadn't died, and thanks to Mito's strength, Konoha had an overwhelming advantage during the First Great Ninja War. They barely faced any setbacks. Two people who were originally supposed to die in that war ended up surviving.
"It's not like I'm cursing them to die or anything, but this makes things really complicated for meā¦"
The two who survived were Orochimaru's parents. Without their deaths, Orochimaru never embarked on his path of immortality research, and Akio felt that a major source of fun in the Naruto world had been lost.
"No, I've got to come up with a solutionā¦" Akio sighed again.
There were still many things he hoped Orochimaru would help him with in the future. He even planned to have Hashirama revived during the Fourth Great Ninja Warā¦
"Luckily, despite all these changes, the key characters in the story are still being born."
In the 15th year of Konoha, Uchiha Kagami's nephew was bornāUchiha Fugaku. In Year 19, the Hyuga brothers were born. In Year 20, Uchiha Mikoto was born. In Year 23, the InoāShikaāCho trio was bornā¦
"So, the plot hasn't completely collapsed yet. Some key events might still happenā¦" Akio tried to comfort himself.
Just as he was thinking, he suddenly sensed a familiar chakra signature approaching. Akio's face turned helpless.
"Grandpa Akio, I did it!"
The voice belonged to Yuna, now seventeen years old. She had perfectly inherited Izuko's talent and was currently a chÅ«nin. For some reason, around age ten, she had once encountered the Uzumaki clan's Chakra Diffusion Cannon, and from then on became obsessed with scientific researchā¦
A black-haired boy around ten years old followed beside her. When he saw Akio, he shouted:
"Great-grandfather!"
This boy was Hashirama's second son, named Senju DÅzan.
Unlike Kenji, who resembled Mito more, DÅzan took after Hashirama both in personality and talent. He possessed an enviable physical constitution. As Akio put it:
"I've spent so many years through storms and battles just to reach Level 8 in Yang Release, and this kid's already probably at Level 5 or 6 just thanks to having a great dad. By the time he matures, even if he doesn't reach Sage Body level, he'll be around Level 8."
"Yuna, didn't I ask you to go explore Konoha a bit recently?"
Yuna sighed helplessly.
"I didā¦ and brought back DÅzan with me."
DÅzan chuckled heartily beside her.
For some unknown reason, ever since DÅzan met Yuna once when he was four or five, he had been clinging to her ever since.
"Love at first sight? Or maybe just lacking maternal love?" Akio thought with a chuckle.
He always felt that Mito only treated DÅzan with the affection of a grandmotherā¦
"So, did you see Sakumo in Konoha?" Akio teased.
Yuna blushed.
"Grandpa! If you keep saying that, I'll get mad! I just went to check out Konoha's Weapons Division and got inspired. I came back right away to make a new weapon."
"Oh? A new weapon?" Akio looked surprised. "Do you have a prototype?"
Akio didn't have high hopes for Konoha's research capabilities. Over the years, they had only increased the Chakra Diffusion Cannon's power without trying to reduce its chakra consumption.
Rumor had it that the latest model had reached the power of a Tailed Beast Bomb, but when Tobirama tested it himself, he could only fire it twice before his chakra was completely drainedāmaking it utterly impractical.
On the Uzumaki side, however, with Akio occasionally offering suggestions, there had been some modest progress.
Yuna smiled, pulled a sealing scroll from her chest, and unraveled itārevealing a strange-looking object in front of Akio.
Akio frowned as he picked it up and weighed it. It wasn't too heavy, but its shapeā¦ should he call it a hand cannon?
He fiddled with it for a moment and immediately found the chakra input area. Then, facing the sea, he fired.
"Grandpa!" Yuna's voice called out as Akio suddenly found himself sitting on the ground, confused.
Rubbing his shoulder, Akio stood up with a wry smile.
Yuna looked guilty.
"What is this thing? It's got some good powerāabout the same destructive force as a Rasengan, with little chakra cost, and it's ranged. Butā¦ this recoil nearly killed your old grandpa!"
"It's not finalized yet! Besides, isn't it great? So what if you took a fall? With that kind of power, it's worth it!"
Akio sighed.
"Sure, I fell, but would you dare test it yourself? This thing's only usable by someone like your Uncle KentÅ. Anyone else shouldn't even think about it."
"Great-grandpa! I'll definitely be able to use Yuna-nee's weapon someday!" DÅzan declared.
Akio was speechless. This kid was way too biased toward Yuna. How did Hashirama's second son turn into such a siscon? Hokage already had a bunch of brocons and now a siscon gets added to the mixā¦
"Still, Yuna really has talent for research to make something like this," Akio mused.
"Maybe she should be paired up with Orochimaru?"
"ā¦Nah, forget it."
Just as he was thinking that, several new chakra signatures rapidly approached.
"Tsunade and Nawaki? And those two behind themā¦" Akio felt a guess forming and became a little excited.
Sure enough, as they came closer, Akio realizedāit was his first time seeing the young Jiraiya and Orochimaru.
"Great-ancestor Grandpa, I'm here! Didn't you say you wanted to meet my teammates? I brought them!"
Akio nodded.
"Great-ancestor Grandpa, I'm here!" Nawaki ran up to greet him.
Before Akio could respond, Nawaki spotted Yuna and ran toward her shouting "Big Sis!"
Akio didn't understand what it was about Yuna that made her so popular with childrenāespecially Senju children.
Snapping back to reality, Akio turned to face the young Jiraiya and Orochimaru.
Fourteen-year-old Orochimaru, aside from his deathly pale skin, was quite handsome. He greeted Akio politely.
Jiraiya, on the other hand, had that classic "I'm the best" expression.
"Orochimaru, why are you even greeting him? If it weren't for Tsunade, I wouldn't care about meeting some ancestor grandpa. Now we've met, let's go already!"
Looking like he couldn't wait to go save the world.
Akio's face darkened.
"Step one in training the Legendary Sannin: teach Jiraiya some basic mannersā¦"
