She tried to keep up with him, but he seemed too angry to care that she had short legs to move as fast as him. When she almost tripped on a stone, and the result caused a sharp pain in her ankle, he stopped and turned to her immediately.
''You all are dismissed,'' he said to the guards around them, and they all bowed their heads and left. He startled her when he fell on one knee and reached out for the leg. Wish had to lean on his shoulder for balance as he got rid of her shoes to check her feet, worry drawn on his face as he looked at it longer than necessary to check and feel for any sign of discomfort or fracture over that small misstep.
''I'm fine,'' Wish spoke to calm him down, but he was not having it. He touched all her toes and the back of her feet and listened for any sign of discomfort from her. When he heard none, he put her shoes back on and freed her leg from his hold to see if she could even stand properly.
