'It worked!' Gang Xin's eyes constricted.
He was a bit taken aback by the sudden thing that had just disappeared right in front of him.
This felt just like back in that VR game, when he and other players used to store items and pets; except this time, he was able to smell, hear, see, and feel this creature in front of him.
This world was real!
The contrast undoubtedly made Gang Xin stunned in surprise.
Then, he exclaimed in joy. After all, this meant that it was possible to put living lifeforms into the Inventory!
This was huge!
He could think about abducting live people, and also sacred creatures! Without the inventory function, this would've been a milestone in his thieving journey.
The reason was that Gang Xin knew that spatial storage equipments had different rarities and tiers to it. The ability to store living things was only available to the higher and better items.
However, it was not yet time to be excited.
Gang Xin breathed deeply, and took in his surroundings.
3 Screecherkin that seemed half unconscious, and 1 Screecherkin that had been scared out of its wit.
Although its eyes contained fury and rage, it was also filled with anguish. However, the most predominant emotion within it was fear!
The instinct to continue on living!
That was what animals had to possess in order to survive in this cruel environment. So, it didn't take long for it to turn tail and flee the scene. In moments, it was already tens of meters away from Gang Xin.
Along with this, there was a heavy scent of charred and burnt things, and along with that was also a disgusting smell of blood. The smell of blood was so dense that Gang Xin could even taste a bit of iron in the air.
He had to escape the scene. The loud sound of the explosion he caused would undoubtedly bring in curious animals from around the forest.
And then, the animals with good smell would also be quick to take up the smell of blood and iron in the air.
Because the Stone Fang was an animal that was close to becoming a Demonic Beast, it had a lot of spirituality in its blood and meat. Animals who ate it would have a higher chance of evolving.
Faced with this opportunity to evolve, they would become frenzied!
Although it had only been a few seconds after that explosion, the blood have already been spilling from the Stone Fang for a time. The trail would've already attracted beasts.
It was only a matter of few minutes before they arrived.
Thus, Gang Xin had to get out of here. Fast.
After scanning the surroundings, Gang Xin swiped at the body of the Stone Fang.
Swish... it went into the Inventory.
Then, with his once again torn and burnt clothes, he began running.
...
After a while of running perpendicular from the way Stone Fang and the 5 Screecherkin came, Gang Xin slowed down.
In front of him was a vine covered tree that was visibly bigger than the other trees.
"Haa... haa" he had run till he had run out of breath.
Since his physical capabilities still weren't that much and he had run at full speed, he had barely covered around 10 kilometers.
Considering this was inside a forest, more so one that was close to being a jungle, it was a pretty good distance.
His breath was running out; however, his mind was still very excited.
Still, he quickly calmed down and stopped by a tree and climbed it. Along the way, he had tried his best to conceal himself and not attract the ire of many beasts.
But there was bound to be some that had felt threatened and had chased him down. Fortunately, since he hadn't run a long distance, there weren't many, only one in fact.
From what he could sense, there was one Sawhorn Ram that was after him.
Because he just happened to dash beside it, he had attracted its rage. Because this ram was agile in navigating through irregular areas, he couldn't shake it off.
He could only be chased by it.
This time, he tried to climb a tree and shake it off.
The trees in this area were entangled with green vines, and thus, easy to climb.
"Ach!" as he was climbing around 5 meters off the ground, Gang Xin was met with a sting on his finger.
Leaf Ants... Looking at the tiny ants that was moving about on the vine, Gang Xin felt a hint of curiousity flash past his eyes.
Also called the Leaveweaver ants, these ants could restore and also make new leaves for trees. In return, they would feast on the tree juice.
This relationship had helped create a symbiotic relationship between these ants and trees. However, although these ants didn't cause much trouble for the tree, they were very territorial and would attack almost anything that came to disrupt their lives.
Although this helped deter small insects, their existence also brought the attention of other birds and animals that love to feast on them.
Usually, climbing such a tree would be annoying for any person.
However, instead of annoyance, Gang Xin was interested in them instead. It fascinated him how these ants worked and lived.
Still, he leaped upwards, and fastened his progress.
After all, he could hear the grunts of the ram coming from behind him.
Thud!
The tree he was climbing reverberated slightly. To make such a huge tree tremble definitely meant that the Sawhorn Ram could've killed him upon impact.
Unlike the Stone Fang, this kind of animal excelled in direct and blunt force. If he had tried the thing he did with Stone Fang, his arm would've been crushed into bits.
So until now, he still hadn't tried to face the ram directly.
'Well, it will be different once it has lost all momentum' Gang Xin smirked slightly.
Rams were animals that were very agile and could traverse through rough and irregular terrains easily. Because this species of Sawhorn Ram had adapted in this forest, it had familiarity in getting past annoying plant overgrowth.
But more than that, it excelled in climbing trees, and when night fell, it would usually go to a tall tree and climb to the top and sleep there.
Gang Xin didn't doubt the beast's ability to climb this tree.
Thus, he went to a bigger branch he noticed and went on top of it. He will confront the Sawhorn Ram here.
MAIIIIIII
The ram roared. It was finally content now that it had cornered this persistent fellow he had been following.
Its eyes even flashed with pride and ridiculeness towards the human.
Seeing this, Gang Xin instead felt confused.
"A demonic beast?" now that he could see it at close proximity, he could sense the specialness of this Sawhorn Ram.
It had a hint of intelligence not found in normal animals' eyes.
Still, Gang Xin didn't believe he would lose to it. He just needed a bit of strategy and intelligence.
Immediately, his face reflected fear and confusion.
He couldn't help but blurt out with wide open eyes "I- I- Impossible! How did you climb this tree?!"
Seeing this act, the ram grew even more proudful as it raised its chin and snorted.
In its eyes, this human was looking for a way down now. Unfortunately, they were already high up. It had no escape.
This human had no threat to its evolved self.
The Sawhorn Ram then started retreating, as if preparing a charge, before springing up forward.
However, just before it could do so, the vision of the human disappeared. Instead, it was now in front of it.
Oh no!
Why was this human so fast?
Boom!
...
"Phew" Gang Xin let out a sigh of relief as he sat down on the ram beneath him.
Hunting that demonic beast wasn't that easy after all. In its panic, it had struggled intensely and even tried to escape. However, did a ram that lost its momentum anything to fear?
Probably even the Stone Fang from before would've been able to deal with it.
Although he wanted to rest, Gang Xin had to move again. He once again had to use Inventory and store the carcass before running away from the spot.
