"What!! Are you joking with me? You're nothing like her!" Auntie Merry said with unbelief in her voice and it was so loud that other neighbors heard it.
"Auntie Merry, are you blind? I just dyed my hair and I am just wearing contact lenses. You can't even recognize me, auntie, you need glasses. By the way, my look is trending nowadays and I'm going home now, I'm exhausted doing that play for our project, in addition to the road accident I encountered, my body and mind are so exhausted. Thank goodness the government offered us, a ride home." After she said that, Sena hurriedly walked away from the gossipy neighbor. Auntie Merry wanted to ask more but sena already walked far.
While walking towards her house sena was stopped by her curious distant blood related aunt mela. Who was standing outside of her house.
"Sena is that you? What happened to you? Your hair used to be black, but now it's white." Aunt Mela asked with curiosity.
"It's for our project, a play." Sena replied and hurriedly walked leaving no chance for her aunt to ask more questions.
As she is getting nearer and nearer.
Her heart is pounding with excitement, despite the bitterness she experienced in her own house due to her family issues, she still longs to be home.
Seeing the familiar mediterranean villa she lives in, after her fathers death, she felt emotional. Then she saw her mother standing behind their gate. The two hugged and went inside their house. In the living room, the mother and daughter stood near, the large windows, chatting with each other.
"I heard there's a huge car accident on the main road. I'm so nervous that I had a premonition that you're in it." Her mother said worriedly. Sena did not utter a word but nodded in response.
Her mother looked at her from top to bottom to see if she had severe injuries and then said in relief, "Thank goodness no severe injury."
"I'm fine Mom, don't worry. If I had a major injury, I wouldn't be here right now, I would be in the hospital." Sena said with confidence and she looked around the living room, "Mom, where's big brother's, at this time of hour they should be laying there on the sofa lazily." Then she suddenly remembered it's still monday and they should be in their workplace.
"Dear, have you forgotten?" Her mother replied
"Quite a bit and there's a huge thing going on worldwide I bet they should be heading home by now." Sena said
"Perhaps, let's just wait for them." Her mother patted her head and suddenly said, "What happened, Is this still part of the accident?!"
"How did you know?" Sena asked with surprise.
"The phenomenon that's been happening worldwide doesn't seem to be normal." Her mother said with an uneasy feeling.
Yeah, and I experience things that don't seem to be normal, a while ago. Sena thought and then she asked her mother, "Mom, do you feel something strange about yourself like having a superpower?"
"I think so?" Her mother replied and added,"I seem to have that."
"What! for real?!" Sena said with total disbelief.
"Yes, dear. I can see the future but only a little bit." Her mother replied
"It's awesome Mom, then can you see my future?" Sena asked excitedly but her mother's next words extinguished her excitement.
"Sorry dear, I tried but I can't see it. Maybe it only works once a day because I just touch the apple in the kitchen just a while ago and it shows me that it was eaten by you."
Hearing her mother's words, Sena replied with a warm smile, beaming with positivity despite the limitations, "A limited usage superpower, can only be used once a day. But it's still cool to have such an awesome ability."
Her mother nodded in agreement and then said, "You should hurry and go upstairs to change, your school uniform is a mess."
A few minutes have passed by...
In the kitchen, the mother and daughter sat facing each other.
After eating the last bite of chocolate cake on her plate. Sena who changed her school uniform to her usual clothing, stood up and said to her mother, "Mom, the cake you baked is so delicious. I'm going upstairs to rest for a bit."
Her mother said with an assuring smile,"Don't worry I can handle the kitchen myself, dear."
"Thanks, Mom." Sena smiled as she looked at her mother with a loving gaze.
After sena walked upstairs, her mother sighed brokenheartedly and deeply grieve about the future of daughter.
How could my daughter be so heinous in the future, her life is so gloomy and dark. The friend she trusted wholeheartedly, brought her betrayal that led to her tragedy. How can I rewrite her future when the gears of fate already began. One wrong move will cause everything to be worse than before.
Unknown to her, the future she saw was not the future she thought, but the past that has already happened.
A few minutes later, Sena walked to the kitchen and saw her mother busy cooking.
"Wow. This chicken soup smells delicious mom." Sena praised her mother with enthusiasm.
"I know, I, your mother cook it." Her mother said with a tender smile on her face.
"Once it's ready, let's go eat dinner, Mom." Sena said as she looked at her mother.
The mother and daughter sat facing each other. As they ate, sena talked about what happened to her and her mother quietly listened to her stories. After dinner, her mother walked to the living room to rest and sena was left in the kitchen to wash the dishes.
After the simple chores are done, sena walks to the living room and lays on the sofa. She looked at her mother reading a cook book as usual, and gazed at the ceiling feeling bored, so she walked upstairs and rummaged her schoolbag to find her cellphone. She knows there's no signal, but she still wants to use it to play games.
Seeing the phone, she tidied her mess and headed down to the living room. She sat cross leg on the armchair then she started her phone and played her favorite game till 9 in the evening.
Seeing her brothers came home, looking messy like crazy. She walked towards them at the door and said, "Elder Brothers, Are you both really all right? You two look like a mentally ill who have just escaped from a mental hospital."
"We're fine but can you cross out that mentally ill word you labeled to us, since we share the same blood after all." Jonathan smiled as he looked at sena.
"Mom, we passed by many houses and the electricity is down, I think it will take days to return to normal." Luke said as he gazed at his mother's worried face.
"It's a good thing we installed a generator." Their mother said with relief.
Hearing his mother's words, he looked at sena and asked, "Why did you dye your hair and wear contact lenses? It looks natural on you but isn't dyeing a hair forbidden at your school and so are the contact lenses."
"It's just temporary, brother lu. I dress up like this for the play." Sena said with a guilty conscience.
"With your outfit and look, I'm sure you got a high score on that play. Let's chit chat later, little sis. I'm going upstairs to change my messy outfit." Jonathan patted her head and walked upstairs with Luke. She watched her brothers walk upstairs then her mother pulled her to the kitchen.
Ten days have passed, the signal returned but the electricity restoration is still ongoing in some places and the school all over the country announced a temporary break for a month.
Numerous lives were lost and saved on the day the meteorite struck the earth. As time passed by the public gradually knows some people have superpowers. It caused sensations worldwide and because of that, excitement, fear, jealousy, a mixture of various emotions were all felt by different people.
A month passes in the blink of an eye. Everything is back in order, but the scars of that devastating tragedy can still be seen on the surface of the earth.
As school resumed, sena woke up early. She moved down from her bed and walked to the window seat where her bag was placed. It's been forgotten for a month, so it's no surprise that it's rumbled and unorganized inside.
She took all of its things including the forgotten biscuit she bought and placed it on another school bag which is neater. After that, she then walked to the bathroom to take a shower.
After getting dressed, she walks to the human size mirror and takes a look at her reflection from top to bottom.
Then a sudden knock can be heard and knowing that it's probably her brother jo, she said, "It's not locked."
