Coralis stood in the middle of a clearing. Eva was beside her in wolf form. Goblins and vampires kept coming at them. A little distance away, Veronica and her warriors were fighting three vampires from Lucas' clan. Prince Hendrick was patrolling the forest around the clearing, along with four of his warriors, trying to locate their encampment.
Prince Charlie, along with his two personal guards, was also patrolling the forest around, trying to locate Lucas' camp. He knew he was a target. He tried to stay away from the fights and stick to the shadows, but he wanted to know who was after him.
Meanwhile, Frank was getting worried. Despite his confusion and mixed feelings about what had just been revealed to him, he wanted Coralis to come back to him.
"Warzone? Are you serious? What do you mean by that? Is she okay?"
"Yes, I'm serious. Frank, we didn't lie to you. We couldn't talk to you about our jobs and what we are, but what we did tell you wasn't a lie. Long story short, a rogue clan of vampires is going against the royal vampire family in Chicago, and Blue's employer is involved, most likely against her. She is in the middle of where the fights are happening, so I do not know how she is right now. However, as I said to you last night, she's very skilled, I honestly don't think anyone will take her down tonight."
A commotion was heard in the background.
"I have to go, I need to make sure this mess is contained and doesn't flood over surrounding communities. I'll pass the message to Blue when I see her, but I don't know what time she'll be able to call you."
"I don't care what time, I just want her to call me when she can."
Sebastian hung up and went to check what was going on. He was in a pixie village located in a forest northwest of suburban Chicago. By the eastern border of the pixie territory, he saw goblins trying to get through the wards, and pixies fleeing to their community bunker. Suddenly, the goblins who were trying to pass through disappeared.
His hologram vibrated. He pulled it out and pressed to answer it. Eva came out of it.
"Any casualty?" she said.
"None, they didn't manage to pass through. How's Blue? Her man has been asking."
"Don't repeat that around here, we don't know who's listening. She just handled the goblins heading your way, so she's still kicking. Prince Hendrick spotted Lucas's goons near the human town south of where you're at, we're heading there."
Stephanie looked at the time: it was well past midnight.
"I need to go home, I've got an early shift tomorrow. Think I missed the last metro, I'll have to call a taxi. I'll be honest, I was hoping that Sebastian could pick me up on his way back, but I don't think he'll be done anytime soon."
"Thank you for coming over, by the way, but how exactly do they travel? They said they didn't lie to me… but somehow, I don't think they're travelling by plane."
"You really don't need to thank me for it, I was looking forward to being able to talk to you about it. Just imagine what would happen if the entire human population knew about the supernatural world being real, I honestly understand why they can't talk about it to humans. Coralis had to be the one to reveal that world to you because you two are together, and only if she sees you as a potential mate."
"Mate? Like a spouse or a partner?" said Frank while Stephanie called for a taxi.
"Yeah, so if you wanted proof that she also was serious with you, well, there it is. As for your other question, they mostly travel on their flying stick, which can be viewed as their very own personal plane, so it's not a lie, it's just that they don't need airports. Sometimes they use portals, but I know that Sebastian and Coralis don't like to use them for some reason."
When Stephanie left, Frank tried to get some sleep, but he couldn't. He couldn't stop thinking about what his sister told him, about Coralis fighting for hours and the possibility that she could get killed. He didn't know if his sister was asleep or not, but he decided to call her anyway to see if she got news from Sebastian.
"He didn't call me back yet, so I don't know more than you do. You still love her, don't you?"
"I think so, yes. I'm still confused and upset about the whole thing, but for her to tell me this and to ask you to talk to me… well it shows a certain level of trust on her part. I think you're right, it proves that she does take her relationship with me seriously and honestly, I like the idea that she sees me as a potential spouse, it means more than I can explain right now, but I need to know more."
"I'll let you know when Sebastian calls me back, but try not to worry about them. Look, if it can make you feel better about me knowing when you didn't, I don't know much about her past. When I asked about it, she said that these were stories she should tell you first, if it got to the point where she'd have to reveal herself to you, so she wouldn't answer me about her past until you at least knew what she was. What I do know, is how powerful she is. I think they will both make it home tonight."
Coralis and Veronica looked at each other, both were covered in vampire and goblin blood and body chunks from head to toe, sporting various types of injuries throughout their body.
"Think we got them all. Their camp was empty, and there's no one else in the woods but us," said Prince Hendrick, walking toward them.
"All right, let's drag all the corpses into a pile and make sure we're not leaving one for the humans to find in the morning," said Coralis.
"I'm gonna head to where Sebastian and Emery are, 500 meters south from here. We'll all meet up there when you're done," said Eva.
Coralis and Veronica walked the entire area to locate all the bodies, instructing the warriors to pick them up as they came across them. Princes Hendrick and Charlie helped their crew to identify them before burning the pile.
"We're done here. I'll head to our meeting spot while you wrap things up here," said Prince Charlie to his brother.
Sebastian was talking to Eva when Prince Charlie arrived where their group was gathering with his warriors. They stopped their conversation to listen to him.
"It's over. Veronica, Hendrick and Agent Blue Thunder are collecting evidence and cleansing the site. They'll be here soon. Thank you all for helping us contain this mess. You can now go home," said Prince Charlie, addressing the group.
"Is Lucas dead?" said Emery.
"No, he wasn't on the battlefield tonight."
Sebastian walked away to call Stephanie.
"Good news, we're done here. The warriors are leaving, so I'll be on my way back shortly. Are you back at your place or do you want me to pick you up at your brother's?"
"I'm home, I took a taxi shortly after we spoke. Frank called me about an hour ago, you got news on Coralis?"
"Yes, she's fine. Haven't seen her yet, but I'll tell her to call him when I see her."
Stephanie heard a commotion and screams from Sebastian's side of the line.
"BLUE! NO!" was heard in the background.
