Chapter 11 - The New Favorite Non-Human

New Ship's Favorite Non-human

Noic was yet to regain her memories and couldn't quiet speak to anyone other than through telepathy, still she seemed to be getting on well with the crew and was making fast friends in her short time of being here.

Not to Jav's liking, however, apparently, the Martian has an issue with another alien taking his spot as the ship's favorite non-human. Of course he wouldn't say this out loud. However, what he did admit out loud to Aurora is that he is still rather wary of Noic and does not trust her "I have no recollection of what led to my single pod being found close to your ship" story.

Aurora couldn't lie, Noic seemed nice and transparent, but that didn't stop her from being on the same page with Jav. They shouldn't trust the alien so quickly. Especially following the strange occurrence that happened not too long before they found Noic, what if she is part of the ship Aurora sighted on their radar – the one that then disappeared. It could all be some elaborate plan to sabotage their ship from within by planting someone on the inside.

It is for that very reason – and nothing else – that Aurora had been rather glued to the side of Noic for the past week. Watching every move that the alien makes, getting closer to her to know more about her and her kind and to see if she can find what this grey alien with black eyes is planning.

"Hey!" Aurora exclaimed suddenly with a nervous smile as Noic opened the door of the female convenience – a door Aurora had been leaning on just now, eavesdropping to hear any dirty secrets or hints as to the grey alien's true mission, when suddenly Noic opened the door to see her trying to maintain a standing position with an awkward smile on her face as she tried to come up with a good explanation for her current position.

"Aurora, I didn't know you were standing here" Noic said through telepathy, "Do you need anything?"

Aurora is the one crew member known to be generally bad at lying or coming up with perfect 'excuses' at the right time. After stuttering around a bit, she went with, "Oh, I had no idea you were in there, I just want to use the bathroom and was waiting for whoever was in there to you know, come out"

"You were waiting to use this convenience?" Noic asked and though she didn't use her voice, her words sounded as though she wasn't buying what Aurora was saying.

"Yeah, that's it" Aurora nodded, using her outward voice because she was somehow afraid that if she connected and communicated in telepathy, she may give out more than she would say.

"Why, when there are nine other vacant ones?" Noic asked, her tone now more obvious that she wasn't buying it. How tone can be so versatile without her using her voice is beyond Aurora, and for some reason she found herself wondering in this moment if she can do that as well.

Realizing that she has done it again and served a rather uncooked lie, Aurora refusing to be caught disbelieving and snooping, came up with a fast remedy. Which wasn't so smart in itself either.

Feigning surprise, she cast a quick glance to the other nine empty stalls with open doors and gasped, "Are you for real?! They are actually empty! Can you believe I had no idea?" as she asked the question in mock surprise as though she had been ignorant of the empty status of the other stalls, she hoped Noic would not answer.

"Ah, I guess I would just go to one then" she said slowly waking away to another stall while still facing Noic.

"Alright"

"Yeah, let me go relieve my bladder because that's totally what I came for and not to wait for you or anything" wondering why she said that, she quickly rushed out, "Not like I knew you were in here or anything like that, not at all"

At the door of an empty stall and still not getting in, she said, "Not any idea, you were in here, not at all"

"Okay" Noic simply said before exiting the convenience.

Aurora sighed as she entered the stall and closed the door behind her – her bladder didn't need relieving at the moment, but, well, she is already here.

"That was close" she said to herself as she rested her back on the stall door with her hand on her chest doing nothing to calm her rapidly beating heart.
