Chapter 1 - Prologue

I do not think we talk anywhere near enough about how quickly technology is progressing, because if you really think about it, it is actually mind-blowing.

Just 400 years ago, nearly everyone in the world believed the sun orbited the Earth, and all the planets were big crystals—literally.

But now we have rockets that land back on Earth. Rovers on Mars taking high-quality pictures.

A 20-billion-dollar telescope floating out in space, looking at the beginning of time itself.

We have only had the internet for 40 years, and yet we have all of this already.

In the next 100 years, we could have cures for genetic diseases, robots in our bloodstream, and computers that think like humans. We might live on the Moon, explore Mars in person, and even use clean fusion energy to power the world. Brain chips could let us control things with our minds or store memories forever.

If we've come this far in just a few decades, can you imagine what the world will look like a hundred years from now?
