The shockwave from Midoriya's kick sent Overhaul skidding through the shattered pavement, a deep trench left in his wake. The mutated villain's body tumbled through a half-collapsed building, smashing through rebar and support beams. Concrete shattered, dust exploded outward, and the entire block trembled under the weight of the impact. Overhaul's twisted form finally slammed into a far concrete wall, which spiderwebbed under the force before collapsing atop him.
Silence gripped the battlefield for a moment. Every hero, every bystander, stared in stunned disbelief.
Reiji, suspended mid-air by Hawks' grip, blinked, sweat streaking his face. "Did he just... vanish?"
Todoroki landed beside them with a hard stomp, frost spreading under his boots. He wiped a cut from his cheek. "No. That was Midoriya. That was... 100%."
A green lightning bolt streaked across the battlefield. Wind ripped through the air, and pressure exploded like thunder.
Midoriya reappeared beside Eri in a blur, one arm wrapped securely around her. His other hand twitched with barely restrained power, bolts of green lightning coursing through every inch of his body. His hair stood on end. His eyes blazed with determination.
His uniform was torn and scorched, but his body showed no signs of strain. The golden light of Eri's Rewind shimmered across him, healing every microfracture, every tear.
"Hang on," he whispered to her, cradling her gently. "We're not done yet."
A monstrous roar echoed through the district.
From the smoking crater, Overhaul burst forth like a demon rising from the underworld. The fusion warped again. His form twisted with agonized desperation. Spikes of bone and sinew erupted from his back. Extra limbs thrashed violently. Pulsing veins ran like molten lava across his enlarged frame.
He was losing control.
Midoriya's gaze sharpened.
He vanished.
With a sonic boom, he appeared above Overhaul and slammed a devastating punch into the creature's chest. The shockwave cracked the earth beneath them and launched Overhaul backward.
Before he hit the ground—Midoriya was already there.
Another punch. Then another. And another.
He became a blur of green and gold. His movement was fluid, surgical, unstoppable. Each strike dismantled another piece of the fusion—cracking bone, tearing sinew, unraveling Overhaul's monstrous form.
Overhaul swung wildly, but his attacks never landed. Midoriya was too fast.
Reiji stood now on solid ground, watching in awe. "He's not just fighting... he's dismantling him."
Todoroki stood beside him, flames flickering along his shoulder. "That power... he's never moved like this before."
With each punch, the fusion cracked. An extra arm exploded into particles. A leg buckled. One of Overhaul's grotesque wings collapsed inward.
Overhaul shrieked—a piercing, enraged cry filled with pain and desperation.
From a nearby rooftop, Nighteye and a squad of pro heroes finally arrived. They froze at the edge, staring in disbelief.
"This..." Nighteye murmured, glasses catching the glow from below. "This wasn't in any of my visions."
Hawks landed beside him. "Kid's rewriting fate with every punch."
Below, Midoriya landed one last blow. A full-body smash into Overhaul's core.
A deafening shockwave rippled outward. Buildings shook. Cars flipped. Windows shattered across several blocks.
Overhaul slammed into the pavement, cratering a new impact zone. He didn't rise.
Midoriya hovered—momentarily suspended by the sheer pressure of energy coursing through him—before descending softly to the cracked street.
He knelt and placed Eri gently on the ground beside him.
Her eyes fluttered. The golden light still pulsed faintly from her horn.
Midoriya smiled faintly. "It's okay. You did great. It's over."
But then—
The glow intensified.
Midoriya's smile faded.
A sudden surge erupted from Eri's horn. Light spiraled in every direction.
Midoriya's veins lit up. His body trembled.
"Wait..."
His hands began to flicker.
He turned to Hawks. "The Rewind... it's not stopping!"
