Zane's POV ~
Silas noticed the shift immediately. "What's wrong, Zane?" he asked, brows furrowing. "I didn't want to take them from him either, but… he said your love for books was admirable. I thought.. well....I just wanted to bring everything you love tonight. That's all."
He picked up one of the books and held it up gently. "How about I read it to you?"
I nodded with a small sigh.
'Yeah… as long as the book stays in your hand. I really don't want to touch it.' I thought to myself.
"Fine then," he agreed with a soft smile.
Silas opened the book and began to read, his voice calm and steady. The title caught my attention immediately.
"Trapped" ...a love story between a powerful king and a clever royal maid who disguises their true identity of being a man to a girl just to win the king's affection.
I couldn't help but smile.
