Or was I truly stuck in some impossible loop?
I put on the camera but the moment I put it on.... I froze.
Yes, the picture was there. The fountain was there. The birds were there. But Simon's image? It was missing.
No. No, no, no! I can't be going crazy.
The camera definitely captured his image...so how come he's not showing up now? Just what the fuck is going on?!
"What's wrong, Zane?" Alfie asked, concern flickering across his features as he reached out and took the camera from my trembling hands.
"Oh? When did you take this? It looks beautiful," he added, a warm smile spreading across his lips, revealing those damn dimples that always threatened to disarm me.
"I took it this morning, Alfie," I replied, my voice laced with frustration as I ran a shaky hand through my hair. "Doctor Simon's image is supposed to be there too. The camera captured him. I saw it with my own eyes and now it's just... gone?!"
