"Did…did he just ignore me?" Elena thought to herself as she stood frozen, her heart thudding wildly as confusion and disbelief overwhelmed her. Something was wrong. Terribly wrong.
Before Elena could think twice, her legs moved on their own as she hurried after King Killian. By the time she caught up, he was already in their matrimonial room.
Irene was already gone.
Elena opened her mouth to speak, but he didn't give her the chance as he spoke first, "From now on, we'll sleep in separate rooms," he said flatly.
Elena gasped, her breath catching in her throat. How could he say such a thing so casually, like it meant nothing—like she meant nothing.
Shrugging off his cloak, King Killian placed it on the couch before continuing, "I've already instructed the warriors to prepare a room for you. That's where you'll be staying from now on. There's no need to take anything from here as the other room has been fully furnished."
