Kai's left eye first transformed into the Byakugan, then reverted to the Tenseigan. He explained, "This is the Tenseigan, an evolved form of the Byakugan. Only those with the purest bloodline of the Otsutsuki Clan can awaken it."
"The Otsutsuki Clan? What nonsense is that? Now, hand over that eye to me!" Danzo commanded.
"You don't need to know about that, because you're about to die, Danzo," Kai said, a sinister grin spreading across his face.
Seeing Kai's inexplicable smile, Danzo scowled angrily and barked, "Mitarashi Kai! What are you laughing at? Aren't you afraid I'll kill them both?"
"You can try," Kai shrugged nonchalantly, his eyes filled with mockery.
A glint of malice flashed in Danzo's eyes. Gritting his teeth, he growled, "Mitarashi Kai, you brought this upon yourself. Don't regret it!" With that, the kunai in his right hand plunged straight into Red's neck.
Blood flowed down Danzo's arm, soaking it entirely. Danzo, now even more unhinged, screamed, "Mitarashi Kai, do you see this?! If you don't do as I say, your sister will be next! Now, hand over the Tenseigan!"
"Big brother, why is that old man killing his own subordinates?" A crisp voice rang out beside Kai, causing Danzo to freeze as if he had seen a ghost.
"Because he's an idiot," Kai replied with a smile.
At this moment, two figures slowly appeared beside Kai—it was Anko and Red!
Danzo's expression froze in disbelief. "Impossible! This... this can't be!" He turned to look at the person he had just killed, realizing it was one of his own Root squad members. Similarly, the one he had been threatening with a kunai was another Root member.
"How could this happen? I clearly..." Danzo muttered, unable to believe that all his schemes had come to naught.
Kai's gaze was filled with derision as he addressed Danzo, "Danzo, you dared to covet my eyes without even understanding the power of the Tenseigan. I can't tell if you're bold or just ignorant."
The azure pupils of Kai's left eye began to rotate, as if they were sucking the entire space into their depths. Kai spoke calmly:
"The Tenseigan has the ability to create an illusory world, though it takes time to activate. Why do you think I wasted so many words with you? Also, if it weren't for your greed, which allowed me to activate the Tenseigan mode without suspicion, things would have been much more troublesome for me."
Indeed, if not for Danzo's obsession with the Tenseigan, Kai wouldn't have dared to activate it recklessly, as it would surely draw Danzo's attention. But Danzo's demands made it convenient for Kai to activate the Tenseigan under the guise of compliance.
"A pig-like opponent and a god-like teammate," Kai thought to himself with a smirk.
"You! Mitarashi Kai, I am the advisor to the Hokage of Konoha! If you dare lay a hand on me, you'll be branded a rogue ninja!" Danzo threatened, his tone tinged with panic.
"Have you fallen to such a pathetic state? Clinging to titles for survival, how pitiful. The so-called 'Darkness of the Shinobi World,' Shimura Danzo," Kai's voice carried not only mockery but also a hint of pity.
Azure flames ignited, enveloping Kai entirely in a blue chakra aura.
"Tenseigan Chakra Mode!"
Seeing Kai's chakra flames, Danzo's expression turned grim. However, as a veteran of the First and Second Shinobi World Wars, he was no stranger to battle and quickly formed hand seals.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Great Sphere!"
Danzo's specialty was Wind Release. A massive high-pressure wind sphere tore through the air with unparalleled force, hurtling toward Kai. Despite the ferocity of the attack, Kai's expression remained unchanged as he spoke calmly:
"It's useless, Danzo. Under the gaze of the Tenseigan, your fate is already sealed. The only path left for you... is death."
A white-blue orb of light appeared in Kai's hand, its intense glow illuminating the dark underground chamber. Kai released the orb, sending it flying toward Danzo'sVacuum Great Sphere.
The moment the light orb touched the wind sphere, the latter was completely devoured.
Seeing his technique vanish so effortlessly, Danzo's eyes widened in disbelief.
But before he could react, the light orb struck his chest, piercing through and exiting from his back. The orb grew slightly larger as it passed through.
Danzo's body seemed to age decades in an instant. He gasped, "How... how is this possible? Where is my chakra?!"
"Your chakra has been entirely extracted by my Tenseigan," Kai replied coldly.
"This... is this also the power of the Tenseigan?" Danzo could hardly believe that such a powerful Kekkei Genkai existed in the world.
"Believe it or not, Danzo, you will die here. Go to the afterlife and atone for your sins." Kai raised his hand, and the Truth-Seeking Orbs around him began converging toward his palm.
"Kai! Stop!" A frantic voice called out from behind him.
Hearing the voice, a glimmer of hope appeared in Danzo's despairing eyes, only to fade away and be replaced by a resolute expression.
"Mitarashi Kai! Even if I die, I'll drag you down with me!" Danzo roared, tearing open his shirt to reveal his chest. Using the last remnants of his energy and chakra, he began forming seals.
"Reverse Four Symbols Sealing Technique..."
"Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion!"
Before Danzo could finish his technique, a golden light flashed before his eyes. In the next moment, he was reduced to nothingness.
The Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion tore through an unknown distance. Fortunately, they were underground; otherwise, the destruction would have been catastrophic. Thankfully, Kai had directed the technique properly; otherwise, vast swaths of the Land of Fire would have collapsed.
