Chapter 81 - Chosen Companions for the Voyage, Sharing a Bed

After leaving the Heaven Dou Imperial Palace, Yu Tianming immediately returned to Blue Tyrant Academy and began studying the Sea God's inheritance artifact.

In all of Douluo Continent, only the Angel God and Sea God had left behind clear inheritances. The Angel God would only pass their divine position to someone from Spirit Hall's Qian family, whereas the Sea God's inheritance was available to anyone.

As long as he gained the approval of the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, Yu Tianming would essentially be able to inherit the Sea God's position, gaining eternal life and avoiding becoming mere dust after a hundred years.

He first sliced open his palm and soaked the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud in blood, but even when it was drenched, the artifact remained unresponsive.

Yu Tianming thought to himself, 'In the original work, Tang San released his spiritual power first, and only then did the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud recognize its master through a blood bond. It seems spirit power is the key to activating it—or perhaps it requires awakening the residual divine sense the Sea God left within.'

After clarifying his thoughts, he cautiously released his weak spiritual power toward the blue tetrahedron.

Though Yu Tianming possessed electromagnetic sensing—an extremely powerful form of perception—his spiritual power was only slightly stronger than others of his level, far inferior to Tang San, who had cultivated eye techniques and possessed a skull soul bone.

However, due to Ghidorah's unique nervous system that was spread throughout his body rather than concentrated in the brain, he had an unusually strong resistance to spiritual attacks.

The moment his spiritual power touched the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, an overwhelming force instantly rebounded it. Despite his spiritual resistance, Yu Tianming still experienced a blank moment in his mind.

In that moment of disorientation, the artifact broke free from his hands and emitted a special blue light that sliced through his skin like iron, leaving a bleeding wound.

The blue tetrahedron spun in the air and then stuck itself to the wound, absorbing the golden-red blood flowing from it.

Normally, Yu Tianming's wounds would heal in an instant, but in front of the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, even that ability failed. Not only did the wound show no sign of healing, but both his blood and spiritual energy were being continuously drained. His consciousness quickly faded, and he fell into a coma.

No one knew how much time passed, but eventually the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud stopped absorbing. Its glow now included traces of gold-red in the blue.

When Yu Tianming woke up again, daylight was already streaming through the windows. Yu Yuanzhen and Ah Zhu and Ah Zhi were sitting by his bedside.

Seeing him awaken, Yu Yuanzhen, who had been dozing off, opened his eyes sharply. "Tianming, you've been asleep since yesterday afternoon. Was it because of the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud?"

Hearing this, Yu Tianming looked toward the artifact at the head of the bed. Curiously, its previous dazzling glow had vanished. Though it was still a clear blue, it now resembled nothing more than a simple gemstone.

He turned back to the others' concerned faces and couldn't help but say, "I'm fine. But the gift from Heaven Dou Empire is really quite heavy this time."

Hearing he was alright, Yu Yuanzhen let out a long breath of relief, then asked curiously, "So what's so precious about the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud? What does it do?"

Yu Tianming picked up the artifact and explained, "This soul tool has several practical abilities. More importantly, through it, I've received guidance from the Sea God, urging me to head to Sea God Island."

Ordinary Title Douluos only had nine skills at most, yet this artifact held four soul skills, making it a true national treasure.

But Yu Yuanzhen wasn't interested in the skills—it was the words "Sea God Island" that alarmed him. Looking at Yu Tianming with a serious expression, he said, "That place is a one-way trip. Over a decade ago, Spirit Hall led thousands of soul masters to Sea God Island trying to recruit the local soul masters. Fewer than a hundred returned, and even two Title Douluos died. The risk is too high."

Yu Tianming smiled helplessly, "This is the Sea God's guidance. I'm not going there to attack sea soul masters, so why would I be in danger?"

"No soul master from the mainland has ever returned from that place. Even with the Sea God's guidance, you might end up staying there forever."

"Life is only a short hundred years. Take Tang Chen for example—no matter how talented, he eventually turned to dust. If this trip offers me a chance to become a god, then I must give it a try."

Hearing this, Yu Yuanzhen fell silent. As the patriarch of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, he knew many of the continent's secrets. He naturally knew that only the Angel God and Sea God had left behind guardian inheritance grounds.

But gods were too far removed from the average soul master. Even at Rank 97, Yu Yuanzhen still saw the path to godhood as vague and unreachable.

He looked at Yu Tianming. "You really need to think this through. Even Slaughter City could be broken through by Tang Hao, but Sea God Island might not kill you—it'll just trap you forever."

"If the Sea God called me, then I'll definitely return. Just like with Slaughter City."

Although he had been chosen by the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, Yu Tianming didn't know what the Sea God's trials would entail or whether he could return. Still, it was the only divine inheritance he could access—he had to try.

Yu Yuanzhen sighed heavily and gave up trying to dissuade him. "Tianming, you're a Limit Douluo in the making. If you reach Rank 100 and become a god, our clan could become the next Spirit Hall. If I held you back and cost you that chance, the guilt would be immeasurable."

He added, "Get some rest. Tell me what you need to prepare for Sea God Island, and I'll take care of it."

"I want to bring Tianxin, Tianheng, and Yanyan along, in hopes they can find some opportunities there too."

"Tianxin and Tianheng are the most talented in your generation besides you. They can't go on such a dangerous journey. But Dugu Yan could accompany you."

Yu Tianming realized he lacked a suitable support-type soul master. Even if he could recruit Ye Lingling, his Ghidorah bloodline's regenerative powers made the Nine-Hearted Begonia unnecessary.

And Ning Rongrong was only nine years old, with soul power below Rank 20. With Sword Douluo guarding her, she was impossible to recruit anyway.

So the only ones he could bring were Dugu Yan and his maids, Ah Zhu and Ah Zhi.

He looked toward the two maids beside him. "This trip to Sea God Island may be a one-way journey. Are you willing to go with me?"

Without hesitation, the two smiled and said, "We're your maids. Wherever you go, we go. Of course we're willing."

After years at his side, they knew Yu Tianming's excellence. As his maids, they were happy to follow him even if it meant staying on Sea God Island forever.

Yu Tianming nodded slightly. As his maids, they were like palace eunuchs—he was their only support. Despite their decent soul power, life outside his protection would be far harder.

Seeing their unwavering loyalty, he was moved.

Yu Yuanzhen frowned. "Aside from Ah Zhu and Ah Zhi, take Yanyan too. She likes you a lot—don't make her wait here for your return."

Though not spelled out, Yu Tianming understood his grandfather's intention: if he didn't take Dugu Yan and something happened to him, the clan would have to find another way to deal with her. If she turned out like Bibi Dong, their investment would go to waste.

But if he took her and didn't return, at least she'd be with him. This might also help win over Dugu Bo to their side.

So Yu Tianming said, "Then please contact Senior Dugu and bring Yanyan here. Once she arrives, we'll head to Sea God Island."

Yu Yuanzhen was pleased with his agreement. Seeing that night had fallen and a strong wind was blowing outside, he hurriedly left.

Unlike the tropical Star Luo City, Heaven Dou City had distinct seasons. That autumn night, the wind picked up suddenly—a sign that a storm was on the way.

Lying in bed, Yu Tianming fell into deep thought. For years, he had cultivated in the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, close only to his two brothers, Dugu Yan, and his maids.

Though he wanted them all to take the Sea God trials and gain a boost in cultivation, his brothers had to remain and protect the clan. Only Dugu Yan and the two maids could accompany him.

As for Tianxin and Tianheng, they'd have to wait for another opportunity.

His gaze shifted to Ah Zhi peeling fruit at his bedside and Ah Zhu, who was tidying the room and preparing his bath.

Aside from his two years in Slaughter City, the sisters had served him faithfully ever since his martial soul awakened at six years old—caring for him, attending to every detail of his daily life.

Though it was their duty, they treated it as a passion, never slacking off once.

Soon, Ah Zhi finished with the fruit, and Ah Zhu completed her chores, filling the bath with warm water. They walked over and said softly, "It's late, Young Master. We'll take our leave now so you can rest."

Yu Tianming looked at the two and suddenly asked, "How old are you now?"

Ah Zhu smiled gently. "I'm eighteen now. Ah Zhi is seventeen."

He nodded. "Back when we first met, you were only ten. Eight years have passed in a flash. It's windy tonight and probably about to rain. You've both bathed—why not rest here tonight?"

The two were stunned, then quickly understood.

This wasn't a student or teacher dorm—it was a special suite prepared for Yu Tianming at Blue Tyrant Academy, with a living room, bedroom, and bathroom. Though not extravagant, it was elegant. But there was only one bed.

They smiled brightly and said, "We'll follow your arrangements, Young Master."

After replying, the sisters entered the bathroom.

Yu Tianming picked up the fruit Ah Zhi had prepared and began eating slowly, listening to the wind howling outside.

In the bathroom, the sisters sat together in the warm bath, both smiling. The younger Ah Zhi was so excited that she activated her martial soul—her lower body turning into a long fishtail, a blue-purple horn appearing on her forehead. Her tail splashed water out of the tub.

Ah Zhu gently scolded her, "You're not a child—stop playing. Now there's less water in the tub. How will the Young Master bathe later?"

Ah Zhi didn't mind. She swam around with her fishtail, then sat beside Ah Zhu and hugged her. "How can you call this playing? I'm a sea soul master—of course I should swim freely. We'll refill and reheat the water later."

"It's getting late. Let's finish quickly and not waste time."

"Are you in a hurry, Sister?"

"If you're not, I'll leave first and let you keep soaking."

"That'd be great. I can enjoy the water longer. Maybe I'll even share a couple's bath with the Young Master."

Their mouths ran on, but they didn't dawdle. Within fifteen minutes, they finished and stepped out of the bathroom.

One was a lightning-type soul master, the other fire-type. Their soul power carried warmth and radiance. The two girls in the bath…
