On top of so many enormous dragon bones, nearly every skeletal frame still housed soul bones.
The soul bones embedded in the dragon skeletons were easy to recognize. As long as a section of bone wasn't white and instead glowed faintly, it meant a soul bone resided within.
As Yu Tianming delved deeper into Dragon Valley, he continuously gathered nearby soul bones into his storage-type soul tool.
Though these bones came from the finest of true dragons, the immense passage of time had scattered most of their power into the surrounding small world.
Through Yu Tianming's senses, he could tell that while the bones remained in good condition, the energy within them had significantly diminished. Most of the soul bones he collected were at the ten-thousand-year level; some had even degraded to merely thousand-year soul bones. Not a single one reached the hundred-thousand-year mark.
He didn't know how long he'd been walking when he suddenly stopped in his tracks—because in front of him lay an absolutely massive skeleton.
The skeleton towered nearly a thousand meters tall. Yu Tianming's Martial Soul True Body was only thirty meters high; in comparison, standing before it felt like an ant standing before a human. At a glance, it felt as if the entire world was filled with its presence.
Unlike the other white dragon bones, this one was a deep brown color, exuding a weighty aura that seemed entirely untouched by time. In fact, the gravity in its vicinity was clearly heavier than elsewhere.
Though it lacked the bones of dragon wings, its other skeletal parts were incredibly thick—especially its limbs, which were like pillars holding up the sky.
Its size wasn't its only impressive trait. Each individual bone seemed unimaginably dense and gave off a sense of indescribable heaviness and substance. Each piece was like part of a mountain, a river, or the very land itself.
Yu Tianming instantly recognized that this enormous skeleton could only belong to the Mountain Dragon King!
Compared to other dragon bones, the Mountain Dragon King's skeleton retained not only immense energy, but also radiated a furious and bitter resentment.
As he drew closer, Yu Tianming finally saw it clearly—right through the thousand-meter-high spine of the Mountain Dragon King, there was a crack no wider than half a meter, running from head to tail, splitting the entire creature in two.
In other words, this enormous dragon had been cleanly sliced in half by a single strike. That single attack must have killed even a being as powerful as the Mountain Dragon King.
Yu Tianming recalled the legend of the Nine Great Dragon Kings: Long ago, the Dragon God discovered a planet he liked in the universe and decided to settle there.
That planet was entirely covered in ocean. Although dragons weren't afraid of water, they couldn't live comfortably in the sea. So the Dragon God created the ninth Dragon King—the Mountain Dragon King.
The Mountain Dragon King transformed its own body into continents and mountains, providing the dragon race with a place to live and reproduce. Since every adult Mountain Dragon would eventually turn into land to support their kind, their numbers remained extremely few.
For their service, the Dragon God bestowed upon every adult member of this race the title of "Mountain Dragon King." So, unlike the Fire or Water Dragon Kings, this dragon might have been an ordinary Mountain Dragon by birth but bore the title of Dragon King from the beginning.
But this particular Mountain Dragon King was strange. Its bones were fused and glazed with enamel-like sheen, unlike the wider-spaced bones of younger dragons. It was clearly fully grown. Yet it hadn't transformed into mountains and rivers—it had died here in battle, and unlike other bones, it retained its power, its brown glow still visible to this day.
While Yu Tianming stood silently before the Mountain Dragon King's corpse, deep in thought, the soul bones of the Fire and Water Dragon Kings—his external soul bones—suddenly glowed with red and white light, as if activated by the Mountain Dragon King's aura.
At the same time, the Mountain Dragon King's enormous skeleton glowed brown. Threads of light flowed down from it, slowly coalescing before Yu Tianming into a thirty-meter-tall brown dragon soul.
This dragon soul was about the same height as Yu Tianming's Martial Soul True Body, though it lacked wings and a long neck. Its thick torso made it look several times bulkier than Yu Tianming.
Though the soul held less than one percent of its original strength, Yu Tianming could feel that this Mountain Dragon King soul was still far beyond his ability to confront.
The massive dragon soul approached and looked at him with intelligent eyes. It said nothing, simply gazed silently at the wings on Yu Tianming's back.
It stood there for a long time, quietly observing him. Despite being only a remnant soul, there was a deep, complex emotion in its eyes.
After a while, it gently lowered its massive head to touch Yu Tianming's, who didn't dare move. Then, with a flash of light, just like other dragon souls he'd absorbed before, it turned into a yellow stream of light and surged into his Martial Soul True Body.
At the same moment, with a soft "whoosh," a crystal-clear, dazzlingly radiant soul bone flew in front of Yu Tianming. Before he could react, it merged into his body along with the dragon soul's energy.
The moment the Mountain Dragon King's soul bone entered him, Yu Tianming felt a tremendous weight press down on his body. He instinctively dropped into a crouch on the ground.
His entire body seemed to freeze. It felt as though he had become a mountain himself—towering and connected to the earth—endless streams of energy surged toward him, merging into his body.
In that moment, countless thoughts flashed through Yu Tianming's mind:
'Tang Wulin doesn't have the bloodline of the dragon race. The Golden Dragon King bloodline he carries was just a fragment stolen by Tang San. Would a sentient Mountain Dragon King not see through that?'
'And yet, after Tang Wulin buried the corpses in Dragon Valley to show goodwill toward the dragons, the Mountain Dragon King willingly gave him its soul bone—just like that, it recognized the son of a thief?'
'Meanwhile, I don't possess the Golden Dragon King bloodline—only the external soul bones formed from the Water and Fire Dragon Kings' power. Did the Mountain Dragon King recognize them and thus gift its soul bone to me?'
He thought of his useless uncle, Yu Xiaogang, who awakened the Golden Sacred Dragon—also golden in color, with a powerful physique and the Light Dragon King's bloodline.
The Golden Dragon King represented the Dragon God's physical body and left no direct descendants. But martial souls with golden bloodlines often had tremendous physical power.
Perhaps Yu Xiaogang had inherited the Dragon God's flesh through the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon bloodline, along with the Light Dragon King's light attribute. And as Yu Tianming, his nephew, he had a similar heritage. That could be why the Water and Fire Dragon Kings had recognized him and infused their power into him during his spirit herb absorption.
Though countless thoughts crossed his mind, only a brief instant had passed in the real world. Aided by the Mountain Dragon King's soul, the trunk bone instantly fused into Yu Tianming's body without needing any effort.
Among all soul bones—regardless of age—head bones, trunk bones, and external soul bones were the rarest and most valuable.
The head and trunk bones, in particular, offered the greatest enhancements to soul masters and were the hardest to acquire.
As the strongest defensive entity among the Dragon God's successors, the trunk bone of the Mountain Dragon King was undoubtedly one of the most powerful of its kind. Absorbing it further elevated Yu Tianming's already formidable defenses.
Upon careful examination, he realized that this soul bone's preserved energy was incredibly complete—far surpassing even the hundred-thousand-year tier. It seemed to have reached a divine level.
The Nine Great Dragon Kings controlled the attributes of time, space, light, darkness, earth, water, fire, and wind. And the Mountain Dragon King, too, had an earth-based attribute.
'Anyone smart would notice the similarity between "Mountain Dragon King" and "Earth Dragon King,"' he mused. 'Isn't a mountain just a pile of earth? So why distinguish the two?'
That was when he understood: the Mountain Dragon King's soul bone, aside from boosting defense and strength, also granted him an almost invincible soul skill. That was the fundamental difference between mountain and earth.
The trunk bone of the Mountain Dragon King gave him a new soul skill—one that created a domain within his body, a space nearly 100 li across (50 kilometers). Inside was only a bleak, lifeless black land under a dim, sunless sky.
It didn't feel like a newborn world—it felt like the corpse of a world. And yet, it radiated an extraordinary sense of stability.
Clearly, while both Mountain and Earth Dragon Kings commanded the earth element, the Mountain Dragon King's earth had unparalleled solidity.
The Earth Dragon King simply embodied the power of the land, while the Mountain Dragon King was like a Worldstone from a fantasy tale, capable of supporting an entire realm.
This soul skill, "Deathly Stillness Domain," wasn't considered invincible simply because it provided a space to store things.
It was because Yu Tianming could merge with that space. Any attack he suffered would be redirected into that domain—unless someone could destroy that space entirely, they wouldn't be able to harm him at all.
Looking at the Mountain Dragon King's massive corpse one last time, Yu Tianming couldn't help but feel moved. 'It gave me its soul and its soul bone the moment we met. Now that its soul has fully faded… how can I ever thank it?'
After a moment of thought, still in Martial Soul True Body form, Yu Tianming bowed with all four limbs and closed the six eyes on his three heads. He activated the second soul skill granted by the trunk bone—Earth Element Control.
Although regular soul skills couldn't be used within Dragon Valley, the soul bone skills inherited from the Water, Fire, and Mountain Dragon Kings were amplified here, making them far more powerful.
As the soul skill was unleashed with full force, his body began to glow with radiant light. Across hundreds of li of Dragon Valley, the ground rolled and churned. Solid earth and stone turned to something like a swamp, slowly pulling countless dragon bones down into the earth.
The Mountain Dragon King's bones, the largest among them, were the first to sink deep into the ground.
Once all the bones had been buried, the dragon souls followed them into the soil. The valley no longer felt desolate.
Even the once rock-hard earth had softened into normal soil. Perhaps in a few years, this place would become a lush, thriving forest.
Yu Tianming had buried all the dragon bones in one go. Though his new soul bone skill had been amplified within Dragon Valley, transforming hundreds of li of terrain still drained all his soul power.
Several hours later, after recovering his strength, he activated another of his soul skills—Guiding Wind, Drawing Mist. Countless threads of soul power spread out like rosy clouds, filling the entire 100-li-wide Dragon Valley.
After the burial, he had left the remaining soul bones on the ground.
Now, with countless threads of soul energy woven through the land, tens of thousands of dragon soul bones gathered before him.
These soul bones varied in attribute and color. About the size of a human bone, they formed a massive pile in front of him—like a small mountain.
After careful inspection, Yu Tianming found that none of them retained their hundred-thousand-year energy. Most had degraded to the thousand-year level; some were only hundred-year bones.
Still, leaving them here in the Dragon Tomb would serve no purpose. Even the hundred-year soul bones were welcome. With a wave of his hand, he stored them all in the pocket dimension created by the Mountain Dragon King's trunk bone.
He was different from Tang Wulin.
Tang San had stolen the Golden Dragon King's origin and sealed it into his son. Even if Tang Wulin had only taken the Mountain Dragon King's trunk bone and some of the Dragon God's inheritance, it was still theft.
But Yu Tianming was the future clan leader of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon clan. He carried the blood of the Light Sacred Dragon and the Dragon God. He had earned the recognition of the Water and Fire Dragon Kings. Taking these soul bones wasn't desecration—it was ensuring their legacy would be honored.
Resolved, Yu Tianming stepped toward the valley within the valley. Once concealed by the Mountain Dragon King's skeleton, now that it had been buried, the enormous sinkhole—over ten thousand meters in diameter—was finally revealed.
As he approached the pit, the call in his heart grew stronger.
He looked down into the chasm, a full kilometer deep, where a massive, shimmering light swirled—a multicolored misty aura that prevented him from seeing clearly inside.
He knew that this was the Dragon God's soul.
Without hesitation, he slid down the rock wall, straight into the radiant fog.
Through the seven-colored mist, Yu Tianming finally beheld the Dragon God's soul—a dragon spirit even larger than the Mountain Dragon King's corpse.
The Dragon God's soul shone with resplendent rainbow light. Its scales were irregularly shaped, yet perfectly coordinated—like countless gemstones set in harmony.
